The weather forecast says this is going to be a wintery weekend for us - Dutchies. I'm keeping my fingers crossed our country will turn into a winter wonderland for a few days next week. I love snow photos;) In the meantime I'm playing with my winter photos from last year. This is a layout I made with one of them. The Snowfall papers from Bo Bunny were so perfect for it. I really love this glittery and vintage looking collection - so beautiful! I made this layout as an example for the current sketch challenge at the Bo Bunny blog. I recommend you taking a peek at the blog too: the sketch is simply fabulous and there's some wonderful Bo Bunny prizes to be won:)

Wat een toeval! Net aan het begin van dit winterse weekend, kan ik een layout over de winter van vorig jaar laten zien. Stiekem hoop ik dat Nederland volgende week met een beetje sneeuw wordt verblijd. Dan kan ik in ieder geval weer een paar leuke kiekjes voor volgend jaar schieten;) In de tussentijd ben ik heerlijk aan het scrappen met winterfoto's van 2011. Sometimes I just have to use up some of my stash. And when there's such gorgeous Webster's papers in my stash that's not a problem at all;) This is a card I made with the Lullaby Lane and Western Romance collections.

Soms moet ik even in mijn restjesbak duiken om er een aantal wat oudere lijnen uit te vissen. Maar als ik dan zulke mooie Webster's vellen tegenkom, heb ik daar absoluut geen moeite mee;) Deze kaart heb ik gemaakt met een mix van Lullaby Lane en Western Romance.

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend so far. Why do weekends always fly by so fast? I spent my Sunday scrapping and had a lot of fun working with the MME card sketch. This is my take on it:

Hopelijk hebben jullie, ondanks het vieze weer, een fijn weekend gehad. Waarom vliegen deze twee dagen toch altijd zoveel sneller voorbij dan maandag tot vrijdag?;) Ik heb mijn zondag in ieder geval goed besteed: vandaag heb ik mijn MME spullen tevoorschijn getoverd om met de MME kaartensketch aan de slag te gaan. Oops, my bus leaves in 5 minutes. So this will be a very quick post;) I made this layout with the gorgeous Prima BAP sketch and a picture of my niece. Isn't she cute? The gorgeous flower bouquet was a present from the oh so sweet Paulien:)

Oeps, mijn bus vertrekt over 5 minuten...en wacht helaas niet op me... Dus even een hele snelle post;) Ik heb deze layout gemaakt met de Prima BAP sketch en een foto van mijn nichtje. Is ze niet lief? Het prachtige boeketje rechts was een cadeautje van de o zo lieve Paulien:)

Zweeds Antiek MCS Sketch Challenge

The weather in Holland is SO cold! At these moments I'm really looking forward to summer and to tropical places. At least I still have the photos that can bring back nice summer memories;) This is one of those photos. In Stockholm we went to Skansen, an historical museum. We visited old houses and wagons and this woman told us about her experiences. She was so sweet to us and told us her stories in perfect English. Fortunately she didn't mind me taking a photo of my mom and her;)

Het weer is de laatste twee dagen weer een beetje van slag. Was het eerst nog een aangenaam temperatuurtje, zo slaat het weer in één dag om naar waterkou! Op deze momenten doe ik niets liever dan door mijn stapels zomerfoto's bladeren. Dan kan ik me in ieder geval in mijn gedachten even op tropische plaatsen wanen;) De foto op onderstaande layout is één van die zomerse plaatjes, gemaakt tijdens onze vakantie in Stockholm. We hebben daar een bezoekje gebracht aan Skansen, een openlucht museum. Er waren antieke huisjes met vertederende keukentjes, mensen in klederdracht en piepkleine bedden. In één van die huisjes zat deze vrouw. Ze had haar eigen volkstuintje op Skansen en vertelde in geuren en kleuren over haar ervaringen. Naderhand was ze zelfs zo lief om met mijn moeder op de foto te gaan, zodat we het moment konden vastleggen;)

Yesterday my sweet virtual friend Odetta celebrated her birthday. Since she's the queen of vintage, I decided to make her a vintage card;) I used a mixture of a few manufactuers: mainly Bo Bunny, Graphic 45 and Imaginarium.

Gisteren vierde mijn lieve blogmaatje Odetta haar verjaardag. Aangezien zij zelf geweldig is met vintage, heb ik me voor haar kaart ook aan de vintage stijl gewaagd. Ik heb gebruik gemaakt van een mixje aan merken: voornamelijk Bo Bunny, Graphic 45 en Imaginarium.

I haven't played along with the Color Room palettes for a while. Such a pity, cause I really love their inspirational color combos! The funny thing is that I actually made this layout on a free afternoon last week, before the palette was revealed. I had just taken a photo of it, when I noticed that my layout had exactly the same colours in it as the color palette. Coincidence? Telepathy? I just thought it was pretty funny;) I scrapped a photo of me on this layout, which was taken the day after I found out that I graduated high school. I was so happy.

Het is alweer een tijdje geleden sinds de laatste keer dat ik met The Color Room heb meegedaan. Heel jammer, want ik vind hun kleurenpaletten altijd heel inspirerend. Het toeval wil dat ik deze layout nog had gemaakt voordat het palet onthuld was. Ik wilde net een foto maken van mijn layout, toen het me opviel dat ik exact dezelfde kleuren op mijn layout had gebruikt. Puur toeval? Telepathie? Ik vond het in ieder geval wel grappig;) De foto op deze layout is gemaakt op de dag na 'het telefoontje': de dag nadat ik te horen kreeg dat ik geslaagd was. Op dat moment kreeg ik de glimlach niet meer van mijn gezicht af;)

And this is the palette my layout was based on. I didn't use the sketch for my layout, since I only saw it after I had my page finished already;) But I'll definitely save the sketch for another layout, it's so pretty!

En dit is het palet met kleuren. De sketch heb ik niet gebruikt: als mijn design ook nog eens overeenkwam met de sketch, zou het wel heel veel toeval zijn geweest;) Maar ik ga hem zeker opslaan om binnenkort nog wat mee te maken.

Today I've got more My Creative Scrapbook creations to share with you. I really loved playing with the bright, wintery Limited Edition kit. It has so many possibilities!

Vandaag volgt de rest van mijn creaties voor My Creative Scrapbook. Het was een heerlijke kit om mee te werken. Vrolijke kleurtjes en winterse taferelen gecombineerd in één collectie...wat wil een mens nog meer?;)

Unfortunately not even a little snowflake has fallen in Holland this winter. But fortunately I still have a few photos from our white wonderland last year;)

Helaas is de sneeuw dit jaar uitgebleven. Maar gelukkig heb ik nog een aantal foto's van het witte wonderland van vorig jaar liggen;)

On the layout below I combined the white papers with a few hints of colour. The flowers in this kit are simply divine! They can brighten up any creation!

Op de layout hieronder heb ik een witte basis gecombineerd met een paar felle kleurtjes. Ik was vooral helemaal weg van de vrolijk gekleurde bloemen in de kit. Die kunnen elke layout een kleine oppepper geven;)

With the 'left-overs' from this kit, I decorated a small giftbox. On New Year's Eve I gave it to my grandparents, filled with best wishes for the new year: every day of the month of January they have to pick a piece of paper that has a saying on it, such as 'Live your dream, don't dream your life'. They were very pleased with it.

Met de restjes heb ik een geschenkdoosje versierd. Ik heb het gevuld met kleine rolletjes papier, waarop gezegden en spreuken staan geschreven. Op Oudjaarsavond heb ik het aan mijn opa en oma gegeven, zodat ze de hele maand januari elke dag kunnen beginnen met een mooie wens of gedachte om over na te denken.

My Creative Scrapbook gorgeousness

This month we have an early reveal to you at My Creative Scrapbook, because these kits are just too gorgeous to keep secret for another day;) I was lucky to receive the amazing LE kit this month. It contains Webster's Winter Fairytales papers and many very pretty embellishments. I had a pleasure working with this kit and tried to use every little bit of it. I divided my work into two blogposts. Today I'll show you two layouts and in the next post I'll share the other two pages and an altered item with you. But first of all, here's a photo of the gorgeous kit content:

Deze maand hebben we een vroege reveal bij My Creative Scrapbook: de kits waren gewoon te mooi om nog een dag geheim te houden;) Deze maand mocht ik met de LE kit aan de slag gaan. Toen ik de doos opende, was ik meteen dolenthousiast. Wat een prachtige, fleurige papiertjes, aangevuld met hele mooie embellishments. Mijn kerstvakantie heb ik dan ook scrappend kunnen besteden;) Vandaag laat ik twee van mijn layouts zien en overmorgen volgen nog twee pagina's en een altered item. Maar voordat ik dat doe, eerst een foto van de kit inhoud:

On this layout I scrapped a photo of my little niece, when she was only 2 days old. I can hardly believe this tiny, delicate girl has turned into a mischievous, but still cute toddler now;)

Op deze layout heb ik een foto van Elise gebruikt. Ze was hier net twee dagen oud. Een heel kwetsbaar en petite meisje. Ik kan nauwelijks geloven dat ze inmiddels in een ondeugende peuter veranderd is;).

On my second layout I decided to use a rather different colour combo. I use neither purple nor yellow on my layouts that often. But the colours just looked so pretty together in this collection.

Voor mijn tweede layout heb ik een totaal andere kleurencombinatie uitgekozen. Op mijn layouts zul je niet snel paars of geel tegenkomen, hoewel ik het beide prachtige kleuren vind. Maar in deze lijn vond ik de kleuren zo mooi bij elkaar staan.

2012 is here... And I would like to wish you all a very happy new year. I hope it will be a great one and that your dreams may come true:)

2012 is alweer drie dagen geleden begonnen. En ik wil jullie allemaal een heel gelukkig nieuwjaar wensen! Dat het maar een mooi jaar mag worden, waarin je (een deel van) je dromen kunt verwezenlijken:)

In my first blogpost of the year I have a 2011 in review layout to show you. I made this page last week to summarize the highlights and the difficult moments of that year. It's mainly about the uncertainty that 2011 brought me: going to University, switching studies: this year really wasn't what I had expected it to be. And that's not entirely negative;) I'm excited to see what 2012 has in reserve for me;) Since I wanted to write down a long story, I decided to make it a doublesided layout. I journaled on the backside and scrapped a photo on the front side of my layout. This page was made for the Bo Bunny blog and I used a mixture of two beautiful collections: et Cetera and Gabrielle. They're both some of my favourite collections - ever!

In mijn eerste blogpost van dit jaar ga ik terugblikken op 2011. Vorige week heb ik deze '2011 in review' layout gemaakt om de hoogte- en dieptepunten van het afgelopen jaar op een rijtje te zetten. De tekst gaat over de onzekerheid die ik dit jaar ervaarde: naar een andere school, een andere studie volgen...het werd een heel ander jaar dan ik me had voorgesteld. En dat heeft niet altijd per se negatief uitgepakt;) Ik ben benieuwd wat 2012 voor me in petto heeft;) Ik hoop in ieder geval dat mijn leventje in iets rustiger vaarwater gaat komen dan vorig jaar, haha. Aangezien ik veel tekst kwijt wilde op mijn layout, besloot ik hem dubbelzijdig te maken. Op de achterkant staat de journaling en op de voorkant heb ik een foto gescrapt. De layout is overigens gemaakt voor Bo Bunny met een mix van twee prachtige collecties: et Cetera en Gabrielle. Beide behoren tot mijn favorieten van Bo Bunny!

De achterkant. Ik heb er lang over nagedacht of ik de tekst leesbaar zou maken op mijn blog, omdat sommige dingen best persoonlijk zijn. Uiteindelijk besloot ik dat toch maar wel te doen. Als je op de foto klikt, kun je de tekst (als het goed is) lezen.

The last post of the year

Here it is: my last post for 2011. On the end of the year, I always reflect on the 365 days that have past. While browsing through my gallery on SB.com, I found back my first layout of the year. It was titled 'Change', since I thought that word would best describe the year 2011 for me. Well, I think I did a good prediction: this year has been full of changes. There were highlights (my graduation, a one-day trip to Disneyland Paris, travelling to New York and Stockholm, the temporary assignment at Vrouw magazine), but there were difficult moments too. It was a special year and it has flown by before I knew it.

Hier is-ie dan: mijn laatste blogpost van het jaar 2011. Zo aan het einde van het jaar, word ik vaak een beetje emotioneel. Ik ga dan terugkijken op de 365 dagen die zijn voorbijgevlogen - met een glimlach en met een traan. Ik weet nog goed hoe ik dit jaar begon met een layout voor Scrappassion Challengeblog. Als titel koos ik 'Change', omdat ik dacht dat 2011 een jaar vol veranderingen zou worden. Nou, dat heb ik geweten, want dit jaar was één grote verandering voor mij. Er waren hoogtepunten (mijn slagen, het dagje Disneyland, de reizen naar NYC en Stockholm, mijn stage bij Vrouw), maar ook minder mooie momenten. Het was een bizar jaar en een jaar dat voorbij is gevlogen voor ik er erg in had.

Scrapwise this has been a productive year for me. I decided to browse my gallery today, to choose my 25 favourite projects of this year: 15 layouts and 10 cards. In random order:

Dit jaar heb ik meer gescrapt dan ooit tevoren: het was een productief jaartje;) Op de laatste dag van het jaar heb ik door mijn online gallerij gebladerd om er een aantal favorieten uit te pikken. In willekeurige volgorde mijn favoriete 25 creaties:

2011 has almost come to an end. I'm planning a top 10 post for tomorrow, so today will be my forelast (is that a word?) post for this year. Unfortunately this was the last day of my vacation too, but I did have a wonderful week. I spent most of my days off scrapping and it was really nice to scrap the days away:) I met all my deadlines for MCS and Bo Bunny and had some time left to play along with a challenge as well. I decided to make something for Tomoko's challenge for Webster's Pages. The Western Romance papers were my favourites from this Webster's release and I had so much fun playing with them. I scrapped a photo of my mom and me and finished off the page with lots of girly touches and beautiful Imaginarium chippies (a gift from Hilde).

2011 is bijna tot een einde gekomen. Ik ben van plan morgen nog een top 10 post op mijn blog te plaatsen, dus vandaag is het tijd voor mijn één-na-laatste blogpost van dit jaar. Helaas is dit ook de laatste dag van mijn kerstvakantie. Het was heerlijk om weer eens een weekje vrij te zijn en hele dagen te kunnen scrappen. Maar helaas gaat de tijd in dit soort weken ook altijd veel sneller voorbij dan als ik naar school ga, haha. Vandaag ben ik er nog maar eens voor gaan zitten. Mijn DT werk voor MCS en Bo Bunny is af, dus kon ik weer eens iets maken voor een wedstrijd. Ik koos voor Tomoko's wedstrijd bij Webster's Pages. De Western Romance lijn lag al een tijdje op de plank om gebruikt te worden...deze challenge was een goede reden om er daadwerkelijk mee aan de slag te gaan. Ik heb een foto van mijn moeder en mij gescrapt op een meisjesachtig roze layout vol met glitter en tierelantijntjes. De chipboard figuurtjes zijn van Imaginarium en waren een cadeautje van Hilde.

Winter has already started one week ago, but I'm still scrapping fall photos;) I just love the warm fall colours and some collections, i.e. Bo Bunny's Forever Fall, are too pretty to keep apart for another year. I did this page for a feature on stamps over at the Bo Bunny blog.

De winter is alweer een week geleden officieel begonnen, maar bij het scrappen zit ik nog met mijn hoofd in de herfst;) Ik ben dol op de warme herfstkleurtjes en sommige collecties, waaronder Bo Bunny's Forever Fall, zijn gewoon te leuk om nog een jaar op de plank te laten liggen. I stamped with the Forever Fall stamps on small pieces of paper and fussy cut them to get a dimensional look. The gorgeous Dusty Attic clock was a gift from my sweet friend Gabi.

Ik heb met de Forever Fall stempels blaadjes gestempeld en heb deze vervolgens uitgeknipt. De blaadjes heb ik in mijn hand een beetje verfrommeld, voor een leuk effect. Ook heb ik op deze layout een Dusty Attic klok verwerkt, een cadeautje van mijn lieve blogmaatje Gabi.

I made this card for the parents of a very sweet newborn girl. I loved playing around with everything pink again after all the red and green Christmas cards;)

Indian Summer & Christmas

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas so far! My mom's family came over to our house today and we had a wonderful time. We ate dinner together, did lots of chattering, took photos and just enjoyed the fact that we could be all together on this special day. Tomorrow we'll visit my dad's family and I'm really looking forward to seeing them again too.

Anyway, onto the scrappy part of this post. Besides making Christmas cards, I've spent some time working with Prima's BAP sketch too. Winter has already started, but I had hardly had the time to scrap my fall photos. A few years ago Basic Grey released the 'Indian summer' collection, and I could never let the name of this series go. Finally I had a layout to use this title for;)

Hoewel eerste kerstdag er over een half uurtje alweer opzit, wil ik jullie alsnog een heel fijn kerstfeest wensen! Wat een mazzel hebben wij dat dit heerlijke feest bij ons twee dagen beslaat:) Vandaag hebben wij Kerst gevierd met mijn moeders kant van de familie: het hele huis vol. We hebben samen gegeten, veel gekletst, foto's gemaakt en hebben gewoon genoten van het samenzijn. Ook morgen belooft een gezellige dag te worden, maar dan met mijn vaders kant van de familie.

Verder heb ik op deze eerste kerstdag nog een layout te laten zien. Hoewel ik de laatste weken vooral bezig geweest met kerstkaarten maken, heb ik ook een momentje gevonden om met Prima's BAP sketch aan de slag te gaan. Inmiddels is de winter officieel begonnen, maar er ligt nog een flinke stapel herfstfoto's op mij te wachten. Ook de Romantique lijn lag nog op de plank en kon ik niet laten liggen tot volgend jaar herfst;) Dit resulteerde in de volgende 'Indian Summer' layout. Een titel die ik al een paar jaar in mijn gedachten had zitten, naar aanleiding van de gelijknamige collectie van Basic Grey.

The butterflies on this layout are from Imaginarium. Hilde sent me them as a gift some time ago. I used brown ink to colour them and decorated them with Stickles and Liquid Pearls as well.

De vlindertjes waren een heel lief cadeautje van Hilde en zijn van Imaginarium. Ik heb ze voorzien van een laagje bruine glitter en vloeibare pareltjes.

I fussy cut the flags of this banner and used Maya Road chipboard as a sjablon for them. I adhered them with foamtape, inked the edges and added Liquid Pearls as a finishing touch.

De vlaggetjeslijn heb ik zelf geknipt. Als mal heb ik gebruik gemaakt van een setje Maya Road chipboard. Ik heb ze bevestigd met foamtape, heb de randjes beïnkt en pareltjes toegevoegd als finishing touch.

I would like to end this post with one of the photos that was taken today. My mom has a big family, but for some reason this cute, little girl, my niece Elise, ended up on about 50% of my photos. Can you imagine why? LOL:)

Net heb ik de foto's van vandaag op mijn computer geüpload. Ik denk dat ik binnenkort maar weer eens foto's moet bestellen; mijn handen beginnen al te jeuken als ik zoveel nieuwe kerstfoto's zie;) Om deze post niet te lang te maken, zal ik het op mijn blog bij één van de foto's laten. Hoewel mijn moeder een vrij grote familie heeft, domineert Elise de foto's nogal. Om één of andere reden wordt mijn camera telkens naar haar schattige snoetje getrokken, hihi.

Only two days until Christmas. Yay! I'm still counting down the days by posting Christmas cards on my blog, so today's post is again filled with two cards:) For these both cards I decided to go for a more vintage look.

For some reason my University planned all prelimary examinations the week before Christmas...but I was lucky to have my both exams today. I think they both went well, so now I can finally spend a bit more time scrapping and having fun, instead of studying. I have another pretty big exam in the end of January and have to make a paper too, but I'll be taking a little break from school next week. I'm really looking forward to the holidays and to being together with friends and family for a week:) To get into the Christmas spirit even more, I'm posting two other Christmas cards on my blog today:) They were both made with papers from Webster's Pages. I just love their rich and elegant papers and the fact that they allow lots of fussy cutting:)

Om één of andere reden heeft de VU besloten de week voor kerst tot tentamenweek te maken...ik had gelukkig de mazzel dat mijn beide tentamens vandaag waren, zodat ik niet tot twee dagen voor Kerst nog aan het leren ben. Over beide heb ik wel een goed gevoel, dus ik hoop dat de resultaten inderdaad voldoende zijn. Helaas moet ik nog wel een werkstuk maken en staat er vooor eind januari alweer een ander tentamen op de planning. Maar ik heb alles zo ingepland dat ik er volgende week echt even tussenuit kan. Een weekje scrappen, de feestdagen vieren en samenzijn met familie en vrienden; daar ben ik echt aan toe:) Om alvast in de kerst-/feeststemming te komen, staat ook deze blogpost weer in het teken van de kerstkaartjes. Beide kaarten zijn gemaakt met winterlijnen van Webster's Pages. Ik blijf hun papier geweldig vinden!

This weekend I finished my last few Christmas cards. I haven't showed you many of them yet, so I guess this week I'll play the 'good, frequently posting blogger', LOL! Today I'll show you two of the cards that I made. I used the Lost & Found Christmas collection for both of them. This is such a gorgeous, vintage inspired range of papers! The first card is based upon a sketch over at the MME blog:

When I started my computer this morning and did my usual morning blog hopping, I found out that I won last week's challenge over at Dutch Card Lovers. So happy with it:) I haven't had the time to play along with their challenges for a while and had a blast participating again. Thank you for the fun challenge! This is the card that I won with:

's Ochtends ben ik de laatste tijd meestal niet in één keer wakker. Mijn snooze-knop wordt minstens een paar keer ingedrukt en als ik eenmaal mijn bed uit ben, ben ik de slaperigheid nog steeds niet kwijt. Maar vanochtend was die slaperigheid opvallend snel verdwenen: toen ik mijn ochtend-blogrondje aan het doen was, kwam ik erachter dat ik deze week de wedstrijd van DCL heb gewonnen. Ik ben er zo blij mee:) Helaas had ik de afgelopen weken vaak niet de tijd om deel te nemen aan hun challenges, dus ik was heel blij toen het me deze week wel lukte. I hope I'm not boring you yet with all the Christmas cards I'm posting the last few weeks;) The challenge over at Dutch Card Lovers is to use animals on your cards. Since I really love the doves in Bo Bunny's Blitzen collection, I couldn't resist using them on a card once again:)

Hopelijk verveel ik jullie nog niet met de overload aan kerstkaarten de afgelopen weken... Ik heb er namelijk weer eentje te laten zien. Deze kaart heb ik gemaakt voor de wedstrijd bij Dutch Card Lovers: 'gebruik dieren op je kaart'. Aangezien ik de chipboard duifjes uit Bo Bunny's Blitzen collectie nogal leuk vind, besloot ik nogmaals zo'n schattig paartje op een kaart te verwerken:)

Just a quick post today to share another Christmas card with you. For the current Bo Bunny challenge I came up with a sketch. Since I often feel like I re-use the same design over and over again on my cards, I decided to do something completely different this time around and went for a patchwork look. The Blitzen collection contains one sheet with a patchwork look, which is simply perfect for this. I fussy cut a few parts of it and repositioned them to make them fit my card perfectly.

Weer even een kort berichtje vandaag om jullie één van mijn kerstkaartjes te laten zien. Voor de huidige Bo Bunny wedstrijd mocht ik een sketch maken. De laatste tijd heb ik vaak het idee dat mijn kaartjes allemaal op elkaar lijken, dus besloot ik dit keer iets totaal anders uit te proberen. Het werd uiteindelijk deze patchwork vormgeving. Eén van de vellen van de Blitzen lijn is voorzien van een mooie collage en leende zich perfect voor de sketch. Ik heb er een aantal rechthoeken uitgeknipt en heb die zo georganiseerd dat ze samen één grote rechthoek vormden.

Bo Bunny Christmas

Another week has flown by before I knew it. Slowly but surely Christmas is coming closer...and I still have to finish so many Christmas cards. I'm not quite sure whether I'll be able to send everyone a handmade card this year, but I'm trying really hard to get a few more done very last minute;) These are two cards I made last week. I dug into my gorgeous Bo Bunny Christmas stash. This first card was made with the amazing Blitzen collection. This is such a bright and fun line with a beautiful touch of magic.

Er is alweer een week voorbijgevlogen voordat ik er erg in had. Zo langzaamaan komt Kerst ook al steeds dichterbij...en met mijn kerstkaarten schiet het nog niet bepaald op... Ik weet niet zeker of het me dit jaar gaat lukken iedereen een zelfgemaakte kaart op te sturen, maar ik doe mijn best om op het laatste moment nog een paar kaarten af te krijgen;) Dit zijn twee kaarten die ik vorige week heb gemaakt. Voor beide heb ik mijn Bo Bunny kerstcollecties tevoorschijn getoverd. De eerste kaart is gemaakt met de supermooie Blitzen collectie: een heerlijk vrolijke en kleurrijke lijn met een magisch tintje.

When you take a closer look at this card, you'll notice the Diamond Dust that I added to the chipboard frame. I just love this stuff:)

Als je op de foto klikt, kun je misschien de Diamond Dust opmerken waarmee ik het chipboard frame heb versierd. Zulk geweldig spul om te gebruiken:)

To make this second card I used one of my other favourite collections: Snowfall. This line has glitter all over it and is decorated with many pretty snowflakes. They make making a card so easy and fun!

Voor mijn tweede kaart heb ik één van mijn andere favoriete collecties benut: de Snowfall lijn. Deze lijn is versierd met tal van glitters en is voorzien van mooie sneeuwvlokpatroontjes. Het is één van de lijnen waarmee het me lukt een kaartje in no time af te hebben;)

More My Creative Scrapbook LE Kit Goodness

Today I'm back with another post showcasing my work with the My Creative Scrapbook LE kit. This is definitely one of my favourite kits so far. I love the traditional Christmas colours and all the vintage touches in this kit.

Zoals beloofd laat ik jullie vandaag deel 2 van mijn creaties met de My Creative Scrapbook LE kit zien. Dit was met stip op één mijn favoriete kit tot nu toe: traditionele kerstkleurtjes, vintage details, glitter accenten, mooie bloemen...meer had ik me niet kunnen wensen;)

On this layout I used two photos that were taken just a few seconds apart. But I edited them in a completely different way: I tried to give the photo at the left side a 'cold feel', while giving the right photo a more warm touch. I absolutely loved the Melissa Frances frame in this kit and wrapped the gorgeous Prima vine along its borders.

Op deze layout heb ik twee foto's gescrapt die eigenlijk vrijwel hetzelfde waren. In Picasa heb ik ze alleen allebei op een totaal verschillende bewerkt: de linkerfoto heb ik een koude uitstraling gegeven, terwijl ik op de rechterfoto de warme kleuren meer naar voren wilde laten komen. Verder heb ik gebruik gemaakt van het prachtige Melissa Frances frame uit de kit. Ik heb de Prima tak er omheen gevouwen, zodat ik een klein embellishment cluster kreeg voor in het midden van mijn layout.

My second layout, below, showcases a photo of my friend Kim and a fake Mr. Santa, which we found in Amsterdam. I turned the photo into sepia so it would compliment the vintage feel of the papers a bit better.

Op mijn tweede layout heb ik een foto van mijn vriendin Kim met een plastic kerstman - deze stond op een plein in de buurt van De Munt vorig jaar - gescrapt. Ik heb de foto omgezet in sepia, zodat hij beter bij het papier zou passen.

In the end I also made this card. I still had a small piece of the gorgeous green ribbon left and it was right enough to tie this bow with.

Tenslotte heb ik de volgende kaart gemaakt. Ik had nog een klein stukje van het groene lint over en dat was gelukkig precies genoeg om mijn kaart van een strik te kunnen voorzien.

I couldn't resist showing you a recent photo of Jolanda, Joyce and me too. We planned a happy scrappy day last Sunday and had a blast chattering, laughing and scrapping around all day long:)

Ook wilde ik jullie deze foto van Jolanda, Joyce en mij niet onthouden;) We hadden afgelopen zondag een scrapdagje gepland en hebben heerlijk de hele dag kletsend, lachend en scrappend doorgebracht. Het was weer superleuk!

My Creative Scrapbook December Kits

It's that time of the month again...time to reveal the My Creative Scrapbook kits. This month I was lucky to get to play with the absolutely gorgeous Limited Edition kit. This kit is just packed with the most wonderful products from many different manufacturers. The My Mind's Eye Lost & Found papers have a wonderful glitter coating and Pam mixed them up with a lot of beautiful flowers, ribbons, chipboard, die-cuts and more. I could hardly stop creating with this kit, so I created 4 layouts and 2 cards with it. Today I'll show you 3 of my creations and on Wednesday I'll make up another post to share more of my work with you.

Sinterklaas is na vanavond officieel het land weer uit, om morgen nog een laatste bezoekje bij onze zuiderburen te brengen en dan weer richting Spanje te gaan;) Onze pakjesavond zit er alweer even op: wij hebben zaterdag al Sinterklaas gevierd bij mijn oom en tante. Het was hartstikke gezellig! Ik zal binnenkort nog een aantal foto's van ons 'heerlijk avondje' op mijn blog plaatsen.

Aangezien de Sint geen pakjes naar de VS brengt, is het vandaag - net als elke vijfde dag van de maand - tijd voor de bekendmaking van de kits bij My Creative Scrapbook. Deze maand mocht ik met de geweldig mooie Limited Edition kit aan de slag gaan. Het scrappen leek bijna vanzelf te gaan met zulke mooie papiertjes en prachtige embellishments. Na 2,5 dag scrappen had ik 4 layouts en 2 kaartjes af. Zoals altijd heb ik mijn werk in twee posts opgesplits. Vandaag krijgen jullie de eerste helft van mijn creaties te zien en dan volgt woensdag de rest;)

To be honest this photo of me was taken back in October. I needed a photo for my student card, so we created our own little 'photo studio' by simple hanging a white blanket on the wall of my room. After a few tries we had a good shot, but my mom suggested taking a few more photos. This was one of them. Anyway, I thought the red in my blouse matched the papers perfectly. So I decided to make it a 'Dreaming of Christmas' layout.

Ik had een foto voor mijn collegekaart nodig, dus hebben we met een wit laken snel een amateur 'fotostudio' in elkaar geflanst. Na een aantal pogingen hadden we een goede (niet al te bijzondere) foto voor school. Maar nu het laken er toch hing, konden we net zo goed nog een paar foto's maken;) Dit was er één van. Toen ik deze foto per toeval weer tevoorschijn haalde, zag ik dat het rood uit mijn blouse bijna dezelfde kleur heeft als dit papier. Om toch een niet-kerstfoto met deze kit te kunnen scrappen, heb ik mijn layout maar de titel 'Dreaming of a Christmas' gegeven. Tja, soms moet je een beetje creatief zijn. Haha!

Notice the green bow on the layout above? This ribbon was included in the kit too and it's definitely one of the prettiest trims I've ever seen!

Het prachtige groene lint waarmee ik deze strik heb gemaakt, zat ook in de kit. Het is tot op de laatste centimeter opgegaan:)

As I mentioned before, this kit contained papers from different manufacturers. Besides My Mind's Eye, it also contained for instance papers from Simple Stories, Melissa Frances and Authentique. These bells well fussy cut from one of the pretty Simple Stories papers.

De belletjes hierboven heb ik uit een vel papier van Simple Stories geknipt. Een paar blaadjes en een strik erbij et voilà:)

My second layout features one of my favourite Christmas photos: three generations in one photo. I thought this precious picture deserved being surrounded with pretty flowers and papers, so I added many layers and embellishments.

Op mijn tweede layout heb ik één van mijn meest dierbare kerstfoto's gewerkt: onze drie-generaties-foto. Ik heb lekker veel laagjes en embellishments gebruikt. Sommige foto's verdienen het gewoon om met veel tierelantijntjes gescrapt te worden, hihi.

One of the things I love the most about the LE kit, is the fact that it contains so many rich flowers. I really loved the Prima ribbon flower with feathers. Isn't that jewel in the middle just really pretty?

Eén van de dingen die ik het leukst vind aan de LE kit, is het feit dat hij zoveel bloemen bevat. Ik had vooral een zwak voor deze luxe Prima bloemen met veertjes en bling bling in het midden!

I also had a few left-overs to make two Christmas cards with. This is one of them, for which I used the beautiful chipboard flags.

Ik had ook nog het één en ander aan restjes over om kaarten mee te maken. Twee vliegen in één klap, want mijn voorraadje kerstkaarten is nog steeds niet bepaald groot;) Voor deze kaart heb ik de prachtige chipboard vlaggetjes gebruikt.

Wow, three posts in one week? I kinda amazed myself, LOL! This is another card that I made for Bo Bunny and which went up on their blog last week. I mixed up two collections to make it: the new Enchanted range and some bits of Crush, one of last year's releases. To make the border in the middle of my card, I used the ScorPal. They generously offered all Bo Bunny DT members a ScorPal and I'm over the moon happy with this must-have tool:)

Wauw, drie posts in één week? Ik ben er zelf bijna van onder de indruk, hihi. Ik heb wederom een kaartje te laten zien dat ik voor Bo Bunny heb gemaakt. Voor deze kaart heb ik twee lijn gemixd: de nieuwe Enchanted lijn en een aantal ditjes en datjes van de oudere - maar niet minder mooie - Crush lijn. Voor de reep papier in het midden heb ik de ScorPal gebruikt. Deze maand hadden alle Bo Bunny designers de mazzel dat we een gratis ScorPal opgestuurd kregen om iets mee te maken. Ik ben nu al helemaal weg van mijn nieuwe stukje gereedschap: een echte must-have!

Today I'm back in blog land to show you a card that I made for the Bo Bunny blog. I still have many Christmas cards to make, so I'm really happy that Bo Bunny released such gorgeous Christmas collections. They make making Christmas cards a lot easier:) This card was made with the wonderful Father Christmas range. The Santa image that I framed on this card, is from last year's 'Noel' collection.

Ook vandaag kom ik weer even in blogland kijken om een kaartje te laten zien. Deze kaart heb ik gemaakt voor het Bo Bunny blog en om aan mijn voorraadje kerstkaarten toe te voegen. Ik moet nog steeds aardig wat kaarten maken voor 25 december. De week voor kerst heb ik tentamenweek, dus ik betwijfel of ik het ga redden dit jaar. Ach ja, eventueel kan ik ook een paar leuke niet-zelfgemaakte kaarten inslaan;) De nieuwe lijnen van Bo Bunny maken het in ieder geval een stuk makkelijker om 'snel' (althans, voor mijn doen snel, haha) een kaartje in elkaar te flansen. Deze kaart is gemaakt met de prachtige Father Christmas lijn. De vintage afbeelding in het frame heb ik uit de kerstcollectie van vorig jaar, Noel, geknipt.

Oops...another week has gone by without me adding a new post to my poor neglected blog. But today I'm back with a new card to share with you! Last week I won a gorgeous stamp set over at Peet's blog. It arrived in my mailbox only a few days later and I was so excited. These stamps will make making Christmas cards a lot easier: they have the most pretty images that are perfect for holiday creations:) To thank Peet for the wonderful prize package, I made her this card. The papers I used here are from the truly gorgeous Pixie Glen collection by Prima. Just love these soft colours and enchanting images! The card is based upon the sketch over at Card Positioning Systems. I turned the sketch on it's side.

Oeps...er is alweer een week voorbij gevlogen op mijn blog zonder nieuw berichtje. Maar vandaag ben ik er weer met een kleine update: ik kan dit kaartje met jullie delen. Zo'n twee weken geleden kwam ik erachter dat ik de gelukkige was die een prachtige Marianne Design stempelset heeft gewonnen op Peets blog. Een paar dagen later vielen ze al in mijn brievenbus en ik ben er zo blij mee. De stempels zijn perfect voor kerstkaarten en laat ik daar nou net nog een aardig stel van moeten maken;) Om Peet te bedanken voor deze gave prijs, heb ik dit kaartje voor haar gemaakt. Het gebruikte papier is afkomstig uit de mooie Pixie Glen lijn van Prima: een lijn met prachtige pastelkkleuren en schattige afbeeldingen! Het kaartje is gebaseerd op een sketch van Card Positioning Systems, die ik 90 graden heb gedraaid.

Bo Bunny's Snowfall

Hi girls, today I have another Bo Bunny layout to share with you. Every time Bo Bunny comes with new releases, I'm sure it can't get any better any more...but everytime I think so, Bo Bunny outdo themsleves once again. Their new Snowfall collection is truly gorgeous! Beautful colours, pretty snowflakes and the best part of all...the papers have glitters all over them! (and the glitter also stays on the paper, LOL!) Today we're focusing on this beautiful collection at the Bo Bunny blog. Here's my first layout with this line and there are definitely many more to come! On the photo is our 'tough little man' Paco, being pretty sure that no one will notice him in the white snow;)

Hoi hoi, vandaag heb ik wederom een Bo Bunny layout te laten zien. Deze is gemaakt met één van de nieuwe collecties: Snowfall. Elke keer dat Bo Bunny nieuwe lijnen uitbrengt, ben ik er zeker van dat dat mijn ultieme favorieten zijn...en dan komen er weer nieuwe lijnen, die nóg mooier zijn. Zo is ook het geval bij deze prachtige winterse serie. Ik ben vooral als een blok gevallen voor de mooie glitters. En het mooie is: de glitter blijft ook óp het papier zitten, haha! De post van vandaag op het Bo Bunny blog zet deze prachtige lijn in de spotlights. Hierbij mijn eerste layout met Snowfall. Maar ik weet zeker dat er nog vele zullen volgen. Op de foto staat onze kleine, stoere man...hij was er zo stellig van overtuigd dat niemand hem zou zien in de witte sneeuw;)

Two posts in a weekend, that seems to be a personal record, LOL! Today I worked on this card for the My Mind's Eye card sketch challenge. I had so much fun working with these gorgeous Lost & Found papers, which I got from Simpel Scrappen.

Twee posts in één weekend...dat is voor de laatste tijd bijna een persoonlijk record;) Vandaag heb ik aan deze kaart gewerkt voor de MME kaartenchallenge. Ik heb weer eens mijn roze bril op gezet en er deze kaart mee gemaakt. Het papier komt uit de prachtige Lost & Found collectie, die (nog deels) verkrijgbaar is bij Simpel Scrappen.

The extra assignment was to incorporate some brown in your card too. I still had a few left-overs from the previous L&F collections laying around and thought this card would be a good opportunity to use up some of them.

De opdracht bestond niet alleen uit een sketch, maar ook uit een kleurenopdracht: je kaart moest in ieder geval een beetje bruin bevatten. De Lost & Found lijn van vorig jaar bestond uit een aantal bruine vellen, waarvan ik nog een aantal restjes had liggen. Die heb ik gebruikt voor de achtergrond en de vlindertjes op mijn kaart.

Being a Girl

I hope you've all had a wonderful week! Ah well...my week was just like last week, kinda busy;) But I did plan one evening of scrapping a few days ago and finished this layout. It's been a while since the last moment I participated in a sketch challenge and I really missed it. Besides that, I just had to use some of the gorgeous new Bo Bunny collections. This layout was made with the breathtaking Enchanted collection. This collection is definitely one of my favourites ever. The black and whites and delicate touches are so beautiful.

The sketch I used for this layout was made by the very talented Nadia Canizzo for Once Upon a Sketch. It immediately gave me a whole lot of inspiration, so this layout was done in no time at all:) The journaling criterium for this challenge was to write something about what you love about being a woman/girl. My favourite part of being a girl is the fact that I can do those typical girly things: shopping, chattering, dressing-up. Sometimes I wonder what life would look like if I were a boy. What would my life look like without all the girly things? I think it would be a rather dull life, LOL;)

Hebben jullie een beetje fijne gehad, ondanks het kille weer? Het is in ieder geval wel een goede reden om wat extra tijd achter de scraptafel door te brengen! Deze week heb ik speciaal een scrapavondje ingelast, omdat het 'scrappen voor de leuk' er de laatste tijd een beetje bij ingeschoten is. Maar een tijdje geleden ontving ik een enorme doos met alle prachtige collecties van Bo Bunny...ze zijn weer supergaaf! Deze Enchanting lijn kon echt niet langer in de kast blijven liggen. Ik vind de combinatie van zwart en wit supermooi. En dan heb ik het nog niet eens over de leuke stempels en elegante embellishments gehad;)

Voor deze layout heb ik één van Nadia Canizzo's sketches voor Once Upon a Sketch gebruikt. Na een tijdje niet gescrapt te hebben, was mijn mojo ook een beetje met de noorderzon vertrokken, maar deze sketch gaf me meteen weer wat inspiratie! Naast de sketch, moest je je aan een journaling criterium houden. Dit keer was de opdracht om te schrijven over wat je leuk vindt aan het vrouw zijn. Mijn antwoord op die vraag is toch wel dat ik het geweldig vind om echte meidendingen te doen: lekker tutten, shoppen en urenlang kletsen. Ik vraag me weleens af hoe jongens zich de hele dag kunnen vermaken zonder die bezigheden. LOL!

Long Time No See... 'Tis The Season

Long time no see... it seems like I'm starting all of my posts with the same words recently;) I'm just so busy that I hardly find the time to scrap. To be honest I even feel 'guilty' when I'm scrapping instead of studying. Due to my study switch I had to catch up on 9 weeks of studying in just a few weeks time, while my new subjects have already started too. But I couldn't resist having a fun play with some of my new stuff: the gorgeous Cozy Christmas collection from The Scrapcake. This is my first card with this collection. I hope to find a few free minutes tomorrow too, so I can whip up another one;)

Het is alweer bijna een week geleden sinds mijn vorige berichtje. Ik denk dat ik me dit keer maar beter niet kan verontschuldigen, want anders begin ik al mijn posts met dezelfde woorden. LOL!;) Nog steeds is het erg druk op school en kan ik nauwelijks de tijd vinden om mijn scrapideeën uit te werken. Om eerlijk te zijn voel ik me bijna schuldig als ik aan het scrappen ga, omdat er bijna standaard ook een grote stapel werk op me ligt te wachten... Vanwege mijn studie switch moest ik 9 weken collegestof voor twee vakken inhalen, maar inmiddels ben ik gelukkig helemaal bij en valt er wat dat betreft een kleine last van mijn schouders. Toen we zondag terugkwamen van de Krea Doe kon ik het niet laten meteen met de Cozy Christmas lijn van The Scrapcake aan de slag te gaan. En hopelijk kan ik morgen nog een paar vrije minuutjes vinden om er een tweede kaart mee te maken;)

My Creative Scrapbook Part 2

Today it's time to share the rest of the creations that I made with the November main kit from My Creative Scrapbook, with you. I created another family layout with it and also used some of the pretty left-overs to make a simple card:)

En hierbij deel twee van mijn creaties met de november main kit van My Creative Scrapbook. Ik heb er, naast de twee eerdere layouts, een familie layout over mijn moeder en mij mee gemaakt. En de restjes resulteerden weer in een kaartje:)

This gorgeous Dusty Attic frame was included in the kit too. I had so much fun working with it. I think the laser-cut chipboards have become my new addition, so I was really happy to find one of them in the kit:)

De sierlijke chipboard figuren zijn een beetje mijn nieuwe ding geworden de laatste tijd. En bof ik even: laat nou net dit prachtige frame van Dusty Attic ook in de kit zitten:)

The colour palette I choose for this page has many different tones of blue in it. While I do love the typical fall colours, I'm a fan of these bright blue tones too...they bring back beautiful summer memories:) The photo is one of the few pictures of my mom and me together, during our trip to Stockholm.

Op deze layout heb ik voornamelijk veel blauw gebruikt, in allerlei verschillende tonen. Hoewel ik normaal dol ben op warme herfstkleurtjes, vind ik deze vrolijke blauwe tinten ook wel wat hebben... Deze herfst hebben we absoluut niets te klagen wat betreft het weer, maar toch vind ik het fijn om me met het scrappen zo af en toe weer even in zomerse sferen te wanen;) Op de foto: mijn moeder en ik tijdens onze trip naar Stockholm.

This is the card I made. It mainly consists of layers and papers and stickers. Some papers just don't need much more than that, cause they're so beautiful themselves;)

En tenslotte heb ik nog deze kaart gemaakt. De kaart is vooral een bouwwerkje van laagjes papier en stickers. Soms is papier al zo mooi op zich, dat er niet veel bloemen meer bij hoeven;)

Yesterday I went to a Dutch craft fair, Krea Doe, with my mom. I haven't been there for at least three years, but my LSS owner offered me a free ticket, so this year I couldn't resist going;) We had such a wonderful time! I also met a few online friends and it was so nice to finally get to see these sweet girls in real! Of course we also did some shopping and this is the stuff I took home with me;) Lots of papers, ribbons and embellishments! Sometimes a girl just needs to buy 'something' for herself;)

Gisteren ben ik met mijn moeder naar de KreaDoe geweest. Het was alweer een jaar of drie geleden dat ik daar voor het laatst was (mijn toetsweken vielen telkens net de week na de KreaDoe...), maar Carla's aanbod van een gratis ticket kon ik niet weerstaan, haha. En wat hebben we genoten gisteren! Ik ben aardig wat bekenden tegengekomen en zelfs mijn moeder werd herkend ('Ik ken je gezicht van Romy's layouts'), haha. Superleuk om een aantal meiden nu ook eens in het echt ontmoet te hebben! Verder heb ik natuurlijk de nodige scrapspulletjes mee naar huis genomen. Niet omdat ik ze nodig had, maar gewoon omdat je jezelf als vrouw zo af en toe moet verwennen... en omdat deze spullen echt onweerstaanbaar leuk waren!;) Ik kan weer even vooruit in ieder geval.

My Creative Scrapbook November Main Kit

Yay, not only is it weekend now, but it's also reveal day at My Creative Scrapbook for the November kits. This means I can share my work with the gorgeous main kit with you. This kit is a wonderful mix of My Mind's Eye Lost & Found and Bo Bunny Welcome Home papers. Pam has also included many pretty flowers, chipboard accents, bling, stickers and sweet trims and lace. This is such a wonderful kit to work with! In this post I'll show you the first two layouts I've created with this kit.

Dubbel 'feest'! Het is namelijk niet alleen weekend, maar ook tijd voor de reveal van de november kits bij My Creative Scrapbook. Dit betekent dat ik nu mijn werk met de prachtige main kit kan laten zien. Deze kit bevat een mix van My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found) en Bo Bunny (Welcome Home) papier. Daarnaast zitten er weer veel leuke embellishments, zoals bloemen, chipboard, stickers en lint, in de kit. Kortom, ik heb weer heerlijk kunnen scrappen met al deze leuke mix van producten:) In deze post zal ik de eerste twee layouts die ik met deze kit gemaakt heb, laten zien.

I wanted to do a lot of layering on this layout and also included, besides the gorgeous papers in the kit, a page from an old book and a piece of cardboard (which actually is a part of the box my kit came in).

Bij het maken van deze layout had ik zin om me weer eens flink te buiten te gaan met laagjes. Naast laagjes dessinpapier, heb ik ook een pagina uit een oud boek en een stukje bewerkt golfkarton op deze layout verwerkt.

My second layout features one of my favourite photos from our trip to New York: the skyline, photographed while we were on the ferry to view the Statue of Liberty. Photos like these just make me long for another trip to NY so badly...I wish I could take a plane to go back there right now;)

Op mijn tweede layout heb ik één van mijn favoriete New York foto's verwerkt: de skyline, gefotografeerd vanaf de veerboot richting het Vrijheidsbeeld. Als ik zulke foto's zie, zou ik willen dat ik nu meteen een vliegtuig zou kunnen nemen om weer terug te gaan. New York schijnt 's winters namelijk ook zoooo mooi te zijn;)

The Bo Bunny chipboard accents that come with this Welcome Home collection are so beautiful. I especially loved the fence and the chandelier and wanted to save those for a special layout. I thought they were just perfect for this photo. To make both chipboard details stand out a bit more, I outlined the edges of the fence and the chandelier with a fineliner. For some extra details I also used my glitter and Perlen pens. It seems like they're my new addiction/obsession: I hardly ever create pages without using these two mixed media;)

Het Bo Bunny chipboard dat bij de Welcome Home lijn hoort, is zo mooi! Ik was vooral helemaal weg van het hekje en de kandelaar en heb deze apart gehouden voor een speciale layout. En toen kwam deze foto dus bovenwater...ik vond het zelf wel een leuke match:) Om de chipboard details iets meer op te laten vallen, heb ik de lijntjes van het hek en de kandelaar overgetrokken met een zwarte fineliner. Vervolgens heb ik mijn glitter en Perlen pennen tevoorschijn getoverd voor een paar finishing touches. De laatste tijd kan ik echt niet mer zonder die twee: ik geloof dat het alweer eventjes geleden is dat ik voor het laatst een layout zonder pareldotjes of glitters heb gemaakt;)

Ik zou eigenlijk gisteren naar de KreaDoe beurs gaan, maar helaas kon dat niet vanwege een nogal late roosterwijziging, waardoor ik gisteren ook naar school moest. Nu ga ik morgen met mijn moeder. We hebben er beiden superveel zin in. Het is voor mij alweer een paar jaar geleden dat ik voor het laatst naar de beurs ben geweest en ik heb eerlijk gezegd ook wel zin om mijn scrapkast weer eens aan te vullen met mooie, nieuwe spulletjes;) Zijn er toevallig nog anderen die morgen naar de beurs gaan? Ik hoop maar dat alle bezoekers van eerder deze week nog wat voor ons over hebben gelaten, haha.

Gosh, I can't believe it has been almost one week since my last post... The past few weeks have been crazily busy and I've hardly had the time to get some scrapping done. At least my tentams are over now (and I passed them both, yay!). But my head is like a total chaos: on one hand I want to be positive and I want to believe that I'll like my study; but on the other hand I hardly dare to believe that and am afraid that I won't like this study either or that it will be too difficult for me... I talked a lot with my parents (I couldn't have wished for better parents...they are so sweet and supportive to me) and my aunt. We decided that I will stop learning at school so much: I'll go home earlier and learn at home instead. Being surrounded by my family members and our pets will hopefully make me feel a little less lonely, cause there's no dull or silent moment here, LOL. Today I had my first class of linguistics and I loved it! Dutch languages, which is my first major, will be a little less interesting the next few weeks. But I do have something to look forward to: in a few weeks we'll start analysing and writing texts, which I love to do:)

In a couple of days I can show you some more scrap creations, cause the MCS kits will be revealed on the 5th. But in the meantime this card will have to do in an attempt to not neglect my blog too much, LOL. This pink number was made for a very sweet 7-yo girl.

Jeetje, het is alweer bijna een week geleden dat ik voor het laatst iets heb gepost... De afgelopen weken ben ik niet echt veel meer aan scrappen toe gekomen. Mijn tentamens zijn nu in ieder geval voorbij en ik heb ze beide voldoende afgesloten:) Maar in mijn hoofd speelt zich continu zo'n vervelend engeltje-duiveltje spelletje af: aan de ene kant wil ik er graag positief in staan en geloven dat ik de opleiding leuk zal vinden, maar aan de andere kant is daar de angst dat het me niet lukt of dat ik het toch niets vindt. Ik heb er veel over gepraat met mijn ouders en tante. Nu hebben we in ieder geval afgesproken dat ik wat vaker thuis ga leren of even bij mijn tante (en lieve nichtjes) langs ga. Afleiding is altijd een goede oplossing:) Vandaag was mijn eerste college taalwetenschap en dat vond ik wel superleuk! Nederlands wordt de komende periodes vooral overleven. Het is heel veel stampwerk en we lezen ook stukken over taalverandering. Niet echt mijn ding: ik wil vooral graag zelf stukken schrijven en stukken van anderen beoordelen. Maar goed, als ik eenmaal het begin heb overleefd, komen over een paar maanden de écht leuke vakken, waar ik wel erg naar uitzie.

Binnenkort kan ik weer wat meer scrapwerk laten zien, namelijk mijn layouts voor My Creative Scrapbook. Maar voor nu zullen jullie het met dit kaartje moeten doen;) Dit nogal roze exemplaar heb ik twee weken geleden voor een lief 7-jarig meisje gemaakt:)

Time To Scrap

Thank you for all the sweet and heartfelt comments on my last post! I still feel pretty stressed, but I'm trying to just accept the situation the way it is. I decided to major in Dutch languages with a 2nd major in linguistics. And if it happens that I feel very uncomforable with my decision after a while, there's always the possibility to do something else next year. I know the first few weeks will be really busy: there's lots of studying to catch up. Fortunately many of my subjects will be very similar to the subjects I'd have with my previous study, so I can still meet up with the other students. I'll keep my fingers crossed this will work out well, but I do feel good about it now:)

Anyway, I also have a layout to share with you which is based on the amazing Bo Bunny sketch that Gabi provided us with. Can you believe it's her very first sketch? I think it looks really nice and professional:) This is the page I made with it, using the gorgeous Et Cetera collection. Note the 'De bijenkorf Amsterdam' in the corner! I was pretty proud to see something of our small country (de Bijenkorf is a Dutch warehouse) being written on a Bo Bunny paper, LOL! The gorgeous DA shapes on this page were a gift from my very sweet friend, Gabi. Thanks again girl! And the credits for this photo of me @ scraptime are for Gerry:) She does take some amazing photos, I think!

Bedankt voor de lieve berichtjes op mijn vorige post! Ik ben nog steeds aardig gestresst over alles. Voor nu probeer ik maar gewoon van de situatie te maken wat ik kan. Ik heb me definitief omgeschreven naar Nederlandse Taalstudies met als 2e major taalwetenschap. Ik heb er in ieder geval een goed gevoel over nu. In het tweede jaar kan ik me specialiseren richting de taalbeheersing/communicatie kant in plaats van grammatica en spelling. En taalwetenschap lijkt me superleuk om er als tweede major bij te volgen. Mocht ik dit jaar iets tegenkomen waarvan ik denk 'Wauw, dit is het he-le-maal!' dan kan ik altijd nog volgend jaar wisselen. Maar wie weet dat ik over een maand wel superblij ben met hoe het is gelopen en me helemaal op mijn plekje voel:) Ik hoop het!

Anyway, de reden voor deze post is eigenlijk een layout die ik nog te laten zien heb. Deze heb ik gemaakt met een prachtige sketch van Gabi voor Bo Bunny. Het is haar eerste sketch, maar volgens mij heeft ze talent:) Voor mijn layout heb ik de Et Cetera collectie gebruikt. Leuk detail: de tekst 'De bijenkorf Amsterdam' in de hoek. We mogen ons vereerd voelen als klein kikkerlandje op Bo Bunny papier gedrukt te staan, toch? LOL:) De prachtige Dusty Attic klok en swirl waren een cadeau van Gabi en de credits voor de foto gaan naar Gerry, die me scrappend op de foto wist te zetten;)

The Story & A Layout

First of all I want to say thank you for every single one of your comments on my previous post! It means a lot to me!

Well, I'll try to explain shortly what the things are that were (and still are) driving me crazy. As you might know I switched studies even before the start of this year. It felt really good to follow the little voice in my head that reminded me of my passion for journalism, so I choose to study 'communication and information' instead of psychology. It appeared to be the perfect decision for me. The subjects were so much fun and I really enjoyed analysing news, advertisement and communication. The only problem is that at my faculty you have to choose 2 majors instead of one. When I choose this study, I didn't realize a 2nd major would be so big (a little less than 50% of your studies) I really loved my first major (language and communication), but didn't really like any of the second majors. I have tried English, but since the other students in my class all studied English and had such a huge vocabulary and perfect speech, I felt like I had to do something different. Maybe it sounds like I give up easily, but in fact it's just that when people tell me or prove me I'm way worse at something than them, my motivation walks away too.

The only other option for me was chosing 'image/media culture'. Some of the girls from my class did this as a second major and they highly recommended it to me too. So I decided to try that. In fact I didn't really like the first classes, but I didn't want to quit immediately...maybe I'd just have to push myself through it and motivate myself to learn it, no matter whether I like it or not. It's just that every class made me feel worse... It was all about analysing art and movies. While I love to be creative, this is not the kind of things I feel attracted to. I love watching movies, but my idea is that movies should be watched and should not be analysed too much;) The problem is that the subjects I'd get over the next few periods with this 2nd major didn't appeal to me either. So what would have I do?

At that moment, in the beginning of last week, I was so stressed. What if there would be no solution? What if I'd have to wait one entire year before I could start doing something that I do like completely? I know there are many struggles in life (disease, death) that are way worse than switching studies after one year, but in fact choosing the wrong study has been one of my biggest fears during my process of choosing last year. I still feel a bit lost in school sometimes. I don't know many people and the past few weeks my usual day had the following scheme: learning from 9 am to 6.30 pm, going home, learning more, working and going to bed. Except for a few minutes of talking during the breaks of my classes, I couldn't speak to anyone. I thought it would be good to work really hard, so I could forget about my worries. But recently found out how lonely one can feel and how much everyone needs people to be surrounded by.

Anyway, the first thing my education counsellor advised me was to just 'quit everything' and think about what I want to do this entire year. But taking a sabbatical year is so not me. I really want to have something to do, something to work or fight for. In the end up she came up with another solution, which would be the only other option. I had asked her whether it would be possible to continue with my first major, which I really love, plus choosing a 2nd major from another studies. But she advised me to do Dutch languages with a 2nd major in Linguistics. At first sight this caused me more of a headache than a happy feeling of having found the perfect solution. Switching studies once again? I had already had so much stress and pressure on me the first part of this year. And what would other people think of me if I switched another time?! But she told me my study is very similar to what I did. In the first year I'll get a few grammar subjects, besides the subjects about communication and analysing texts. But when I choose my specialisation in the 2nd year, I can choose for the exact same combination of subjects that I did with communication & information. It just has another name and another (much nicer) second major:)

Well, this week has still been full of ups and downs though. I talked a lot to my parents, I have been really angry on myself for the fact that I hadn't chosen the right study immediately, and I'm also really afraid to start this studies. Because I missed my first period, I'll have to work really hard catching up on things. Sometimes I woke up with the idea that 'everything will be fine', but every time my thoughts came back on this issue, tears and fear came back again. I dared to tell hardly anyone about it, besides my parents of course. My studies are very similar, but they do have another name, so it almost sounds like I'm going to start something completely different...

At least I now have something to fight for again and I do feel like fighting for it. I know that in my fourth year I'll be able to do the master of which I'm sure I'll love it: journalism studies. If only I could know what my life looks like in a year...so I know how I like (or dislike) this study and so I know every story has a happy ending. But I'm just going to try it! I can always quit or switch next year...at least I know then that I didn't give up at the very first moment life turned against me, but that I did everything to turn life back and to go on fighting instead:) Last weekend I spoke to my BFF and i tfelt really good to be able to talk to her again. We decided that, even though we're both busy with school, it's really important to take the time to do something fun together. I'm just trying to think of these things...I can't look into the future, I don't know what life will bring me, but I know I choose not to give up.

Ten eerste heel erg bedankt voor jullie lieve berichtjes op mijn vorige post! Ik heb het al vaker gezegd, maar het betekent echt heel veel voor me dat mensen die je niet in het echt kent, zo begaan zijn met je:)

Oké, ik zal proberen in het kort - in ieder geval kort in vergelijking tot wat er allemaal is gebeurd;) - te beschrijven wat de dingen zijn die me de afgelopen weken een beetje overstuur en gestrest hebben gemaakt. Zoals ik eerder vertelde, heb ik net voor het begin van dit schooljaar besloten niet psychologie te studeren, maar communicatie- en informatiewetenschappen. Het voelde goed om toch de journalistieke kant op te gaan, iets dat ik altijd al wilde. En het bleek ook een hele goede keuze te zijn, want ik vind mijn eerste major zó leuk! De vakken zijn heel veelzijdig en het is leuk om te merken hoe ik geleerde stof al kan toepassen op dingen als het nieuws. Het enige probleem is dat het bij mijn faculteit verplicht is twee majoren in plaats van één te kiezen. Aan het begin van dit jaar heb ik heel bewust voor deze studie gekozen, omdat het me leuk leek Engels 'erbij' te doen als tweede major. Wat ik me echter nooit had gerealiseerd is dat een tweede major wel wat groter is dan iets dat je 'er even bij doet'. Het Engels niveau lag zo hoog en het feit dat ik tussen de Engels studenten, die voor mijn gevoel wel alles perfect konden, zat maakte het voor mij moeilijk. Ik denk dat dat stukje faalangst gewoon bij mij hoort en in dit soort gevallen zit het me heel erg in de weg. Als ik voel dat ik het niet kan en merk dat het inderdaad niet lukt, dan blijft dat stemmetje in mijn hoofd me alleen maar tegenspreken...

De enige andere optie voor mij was om voor beeldcultuur te gaan. Een paar meiden uit mijn klas volgden deze tweede major ook en vonden het echt heel leuk. Dus besloot ik dit te doen. Eigenlijk vond ik de eerste paar colleges al niet heel erg leuk, maar ik wilde niet zomaar opgeven en zette me ertoe aan extra hard hiervoor te werken. Maar hoe meer colleges ik volgde, hoe minder leuk ik het begon te vinden... Deze major focust zich heel erg op het analyseren van kunst en film, terwijl ik meer ben van het kijken naar films in plaats van het analyseren daarvan;) Het probleem is dat de andere twee major mogelijkheden (Frans of Spaans) me ook niet echt aantrokken. Dus wat moest ik doen?

Op het moment dat ik me dat begon te realiseren ('Wat nu?'), raakte ik aardig in paniek. Wat nou als ik nu een jaar zou moeten wachten voordat ik iets kan doen dat wel helemaal bij me past? Ik weet dat er veel ergere dingen bestaan dan dat, maar dat ik een jaar niets moet doen was vorig jaar bij het kiezen al mijn grootste angst. Ik wil echt iets om handen hebben, iets hebben om me volledig op te storten.

Het eerste dat mijn studieadviseur me adviseerde is om inderdaad met alles te stoppen en dit jaar op zoek te gaan naar wat ik wil doen. Mijn vertrouwen zakte echt naar een dieptepunt... Een jaar ertussenuit gaan past zo niet bij mij. Ik zie mezelf nog niet zo snel een jaar reizen of een jaar ergens achter de kassa zitten... Bovendien wil ik niet opgeven als er nog andere opties zijn. Ik heb liever dat ik nog iets geprobeerd heb en dan over een paar maanden stop, dan dat ik nog voordat ik alle opties heb geprobeerd de handdoek in de ring gooi.

Uiteindelijk bleek er nog één andere (de enige) oplossing te zijn. Toen ik net met mijn zorgen zat, heb ik eerst gevraagd of het mogelijk zou zijn een tweede major van een andere studie erbij te doen. Ik zou het super vinden taalwetenschap bij mijn eerste major, die ik wel erg leuk vind, om te doen. Dat bleek helaas echt onmogelijk. Maar wat mijn studieadviseur voorstelde is om over te stappen naar Nederlandse Taalstudies gecombineerd met Taalwetenschap. Op het eerste gezicht was ik er niet bepaald enthousiast over. Nog een keer switchen van studie? In het begin van dit jaar had ik al zoveel stress gehad! En wat zouden anderen er wel niet van denken?! Al snel stelde ze me gerust dat deze studie veel overlap heeft met wat ik deed. In het eerste jaar krijg ik er ook grammaticavakken en vakken over het schrijven van stukken (wat ik alleen maar leuk vind!) bij. Maar als ik in het tweede jaar een specialisatie kies, krijg ik exact hetzelfde vakkenpakket als dat ik deed. Alleen onder een andere naam en mét een leuke tweede major:)

Goed, alsnog ging het verre van zonder horten en stoten. Ik heb heel veel met mijn ouders gepraat. Ik ben heel boos op mezelf geweest dat ik niet in één keer de goede keuze heb kunnen maken. En ik ben heel bang voor hoe ik dit nu zal vinden. Omdat ik de eerste periode heb gemist, zal ik heel hard moeten aanpoten. Ik ga proberen van één van de twee vakken het hertentamen te halen, wat betekent dat ik komende periode voor vijf vakken moet leren. Er waren dagen dat ik opstond met het idee 'Het komt wel goed', maar als ik dan te lang door bleef denken of voor de zoveelste keer mijn jaarprogramma bekeek, zakte de moed me weer in de schoenen. Anderen durf ik er eigenlijk niet over te vertellen. Mijn studies komen heel erg overeen, maar ze hebben wel een ander naampje, dus klinkt het net alsof ik totaal iets anders ga doen...

Ik heb nu in ieder geval iets om me helemaal op te storten en ik ben bereid er heel hard voor te werken. Ik weet dat ik nu uiteindelijk over een jaar of drie aan een master zal kunnen beginnen waarvan ik bij voorbaat zeker weet dat ik die super vind: journalistiek. Wat zou ik alleen graag willen dat ik een jaar verder was...dat ik weet hoe het dan is en dat ik van al die vervelende twijfel af zou zijn. Maar ik ga het gewoon proberen nu. Stoppen of volgend jaar switchen kan altijd nog... dan weet ik in ieder geval dat ik niet heb opgegeven toen het even tegenzat, maar dat ik heb dóórgezet:) Ik heb eergisteren mijn beste vriendin opgebeld en we hebben lange tijd aan de lijn gehangen. Het was goed om tussen het leren door weer met iemand te kunnen praten. We hebben afgesproken dat we, ondanks de drukke schema's rondom school, meer tijd vrijmaken om toch de leuke dingen te doen. Want ik weet nu hoe belangrijk het is dat je leven méér blijft dan school. Daar probeer ik nu aan te denken... Ik weet niet wat het leven me zal brengen en hoe mijn toekomst eruit ziet. Het enige dat ik nu weet is dat ik in ieder geval een poging heb gewaagd:)

Unfortunately last week has been full of stress, worries and problems. I hope I can tell you more about it soon...it's just that things aren't working out the way I had in my mind at school. I also haven't got any scrapping done, spending all my time on preparing for my tentams. But this is a card I made a few weeks ago, which went up on the Bo Bunny blog a few days ago. Juliana has come up with such a wonderful sketch. You can check it out here. All you have to do to be in the drawing for a wonderful Bo Bunny-licious prize is making a card using the sketch too:) I decided to use the Father Christmas collection for my card. It's such a wonderful range of materials. I love these traditional Christmas colours!

Helaas was dit een week van stress, zorgen en probleempjes.. Ik hoop dat ik er binnenkort wat meer over kan vertellen, maar het komt er op neer dat het op school niet helemaal gaat zoals ik zou willen... Mede daardoor kom ik nauwelijks nog an scrappen toe. Over twee weken zijn mijn tentamens al, dus ik probeer nu zo hard mogelijk te leren. Deze kaart kan ik wel nog laten zien. Hij is gemaakt naar aanleiding van een gave sketch die Juliana heeft gemaakt voor een challenge op het Bo Bunny blog. Scrapstreet

The new Scrapstreet issue has been released last week and I think it looks fabulous once again. I spend a wonderful few hours browsing the magazine, reading the articles and looking at the wonderful layouts. I wrote an article about distressing, one of my favourite techniques. You can find it on page 32. Unfortunately this is the last Scrapstreet issue that I've been part of. Because life seems to get a bit too busy at the moment, I decided to resign. I wanted to say thank you to Dora, Michelle and all the other wonderful staff members and editors of Scrapstreet. I've really enjoyed and felt very flattered to have been part of this wonderful e-zine! Thank you for this amazing opportunity!

Het nieuwe Scrapstreet magazine is uitgekomen vorige week en het is weer een top nummer! Ik heb genoten van elke pagina: artikelen lezen, prachtig scrapwerk bekijken... Ik heb ook weer een artikel geschreven, ditmaal over distressing. Je kunt het vinden op pagina 32. Helaas is dit ook het laatste Scrapstreet nummer waar ik voor heb geschreven. Omdat ik het de laatste tijd wat moeite heb om scrappen, bloggen en school te combineren en daarnaast ook nog tijd vrij te maken voor familie en vrienden, heb ik besloten te stoppen met Scrapstreet. Ik vond het geweldig deel uit te hebben mogen maken van dit superleuke e-zine en het hele team is zo lief en behulpzaam. Het was een hele gave kans en ik ben blij dat ik hem heb kunnen aangrijpen:)

My Creative Scrapbook October LE Kit

Now that you've seen my work with the main kit for My Creative Scrapbook, it's time to post the creations I made with the fabulous LE kit. I love me some Webster's, so I was very excited when I found out Pam picked up the gorgeous All About Me range for the LE kit this month. She mixed it up with many pretty flowers, embellishments and even the pretty resin treasures from Prima. Needless to say I was in heaven working with this kit! I'll show you two of my layouts tomorrow, while I'll save for my other creations for tomorrow's post.

Nu ik mijn werk met de main kit voor My Creative Scrapbook heb laten zien, is het tijd om mijn creaties met de LE kit hier te laten zien. Ik ben dol op Webster's en was dan ook superblij toen ik erachter kwam dat Pam de schitterende All About Me lijn voor de LE kit van deze maand had gekozen. Ze heeft deze lijn gemixt met mooie bloemen, embellishments en met de nieuwe resin raamdeurtjes van Prima (jippie!). Vanzelfsprekend heb ik weer genoten van het werken met deze kit:) Vandaag laat ik hier twee van mijn layouts zien. De rest bewaar ik voor mijn post van morgen;)

I love, love, love these Petaloo hydrangeas. And mixed up with a Prima Reflections shape and beautiful bloomers they look even prettier, I think:)

Ik was helemaal weg van deze velvet bloemetjes van Petaloo. En gemengd met een Prima Reflections bloem en prachtige bloomers vond ik ze er nog leuker uitzien;)

One of the papers had these beautiful rulers on it. They are so perfect to fussy cut and will make a wonderful finishing touch on all of your creations!

Één van de vellen was bedrukt met deze leuke liniaaltjes. Ideaal om uit te knippen, want ze zullen op elke layout de perfecte finishing touch zijn:)

My second layout showcases a photo of my mom. I wanted to keep the colour palette bright to make my layout reflect the summery feeling to the photo. I layered the Webster's alphabet stickers for a funny look.

Op mijn tweede layout heb ik een foto van mijn moeder verwerkt. Ik wilde het kleurenpalet op deze layout licht en vrolijk houden, zodat mijn layout goed bij de zomerse foto zou passen. Voor een speels effect heb ik de letterstickers, bovenaan, gelaagd.

More My Creative Scrapbook Main Kit Work & Giveaway!

As I promised yesterday, I'll be back today with more work with the My Creative Scrapbook main kit to show you:) I just loved this kit so much!

Zoals ik gisteren beloofd heb, ben ik vandaag weer terug met nog meer werk met de My Creative Scrapbook main kit te laten zien. Ik vond het zo'n leuke kit!

On this layout I did a lot of layering with embellishments. I especially loved the very pretty chicken wire by Dusty Attic that was in the kit too. I heat embossed it and then added a hint of copper stickles for a warm look.

Op deze layout heb ik weer veel embellishments 'op elkaar gestapeld'. Ik vond vooral het kippengaas van Dusty Attic superleuk. Ik heb het geëmbosst met bruine embossing poeder en heb vervolgens bruine stickles gebruikt voor een finishing touch.

And last but not least, I also made this card using small strips of paper and a small piece of the burlap sheet:

My Creative Scrapbook October Main Kit

Today it's reveal day for the October kits over at My Creative Scrapbook and this month's kits were again such a blast to work with! I got to work with the fabulous Main and LE kit and they were both gorgeous! Today I'll show you two of the layouts I made with the main kit. This kit is so beautiful: it's filled with lots of perfect papers and embellishments for fall creations. These papers are from the gorgeous, deeply coloured Farmer's Market collection by Crate Paper and the kit contained lots of wonderful bits and pieces from, for instance, Dusty Attic, Prima and ZVA Creative too. I loved working with it!

Vandaag is het reveal day bij My Creative Scrapbook voor de oktober kits en de kits van deze maand waren weer zo mooi! Ik mocht aan de slag met de main en LE kit en ze waren allebei super! Vandaag zal ik twee van de layouts laten zien die ik met de main kit heb gemaakt. Deze kit paste helemaal in mijn straatje: er zaten prachtige vellen papier en embellishments in voor herfst creaties. Het papier komt uit de mooie, diep gekleurd Farmer's Market lijn van Crate Paper. De kit zat daarnaast bomvol met een mixje van 'van alles en nog wat': Dusty Attic, Prima en ZVA Creative:)

Onze lieve Paco...aan het doen alsof de tekst '100% pure honey' helemaal op hem slaat;) Wacht maar tot hij wakker wordt...hihi.

Again I did lots of layering on my pages. I just love it to add layer upon layer and just wait to see what it will look like:)

Ik heb me weer heerlijk uitgeleefd met laagjes papier en embellishments op mijn layouts. Zo heerlijk om gewoon laagje voor laagje te werken en maar af te wachten wat het zal worden;)

On this layout I used a photo of Jolanda and me. I turned many of the die-cuts from this kit into chipboard pieces, by simple adhering them to a piece of cardboard. I love how much dimension it gave to my layout!

Op deze layout heb ik een foto van Jolanda en mij gebruikt. Veel van de die-cuts heb ik tot chipboard embellishments 'omgetoverd' door ze simpelweg op een stukje karton te bevestigen. Ik vond dat het net dat beetje diepte aan mijn layout gaf!

Since it was World Cardmaking Day yesterday, I just had to make a card inbetween the studying;) I found a nice challenge over at the Pink Paislee ning: you had to create a shaped card. I've always admired Karola's gorgeous shaped cards, so some time ago I sent her an e-mail to ask her how she made these accetate shapes. She was so kind to let me know the chipboard shape and templates she uses to make them. This i my first accetate card, but it's definitely not the last one. I'm already addicted to this shape! Thanks for your help, Karola!

Aangezien het gisteren World Card Making Day was, kon ik het niet laten tussen het studeren door ook nog een kaartje te maken. Ik vond een leuke challenge op de Pink Paislee ning: 'maak een kaart in een aparte vorm'. Al een tijdje kijk ik met veel bewondering naar Karola's prachtige accolade kaarten, dus ik besloot haar een mail te sturen om te vragen hoe ze die vorm maakt. Ze was zo lief om me een chipboard vorm en andere templates aan te raden, die zij gebruikt voor haar kaarten. Dit is mijn eerste kaart met zo'n accolade vorm, maar het zal zeker niet de laatste zijn. Het is zo leuk om eens met een ander formaat te werken! Bedankt voor je hulp, Karola!

I also have some very exciting news to announce! A few weeks ago Cynthia sent me an e-mail to ask me whether I'd like to become part of her wonderful Scrap For Help design team. Even though I don't have that much time to scrap anymore, I just couldn't do anything but say 'yes':) This is such a wonderful challenge blog with an amazing group of talented ladies! The blog is all about bringing scrappers from all over the world together. There's a new challenge on the blog every first of the month, but every challenge has one permanent prompt: recycle something (packaging, bubble wrap etc.). Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity, Cynthia, I feel honoured to be part of this wonderful team!

Ik heb ook nog heel gaaf nieuws, dat ik nu bekend mag maken. Een paar weken geleden werd ik door Cynthia benaderd met de vraag of ik deel uit wilde maken van haar Scrap For Help design team. Hoewel ik de laatste tijd wat minder tijd heb om te scrappen, kon ik het toch niet laten om 'ja' te zeggen. Het is namelijk zo'n leuk challenge blog en de meiden die nu deel uit maken van het design team zijn zo getalenteerd. Ik voel me vereerd daar deel van uit te mogen maken! Het blog draait om het samenbrengen van scrappers van over de heel wereld. Er wordt elke eerste dag van de maand een nieuwe wedstrijd op het blog geplaatst, maar er is altijd één vaste opdracht: recycle iets (bijvoorbeeld een verpakking of bubbeltjesplastic). Bedankt voor deze geweldige kans, Cynthia, ik voel me vereerd:)

All That Glitters

I hope you're enjoying a wonderful 'Indian summer' day too! We're having such wonderful weather in Holland. I could hardly believe I could walk to school this morning without having to take my coat with me:) Fortunately it's finally weekend and I hope I'll be able to do some other things than school stuff. My scrapbook papers are calling my name already;) I still have some older creations to show you. This is a layout I made two weeks ago as an example for the Noteworthy challenge on the Bo Bunny blog. There's still time to play along, so in case you have a few minutes of free time, you should definitely take a peek;)

Although we aren't asked to create any winter layouts yet, I couldn't resist using this gorgeous Blitzen collection. The bright colours mixed up with vintage details and that gorgeous chipboard lantern...gosh, just love this collection!

Ik hoop dat jullie genoten hebben van de heerlijke 'Indian summer'-dag vandaag! Ik kon het bijna niet geloven dat ik vanochtend mijn jas thuis kon laten, toen ik naar school ging. Helaas heb ik verder niet veel meer gezien dan de vier muren van de studiezaal, maar hopelijk kan ik mijn dosis vitamine D morgen goed aanvullen, haha. Ik heb ook nog zoveel scrapplannetjes, maar helaas heb ik er de tijd niet meer zoveel voor. Deze layout heb ik ook al een tijdje terug gemaakt. Vorige week stond hij op het Bo Bunny blog voor een focus op de Noteworthy embellishments. Er zit ook een challenge aan vast en je hebt eventueel nog tot donderdag om je layout te uploaden. Er zijn leuke Bo Bunny prijzen te winnen...:o)

Hoewel we niet per se al met de winter papiertjes aan de slag hoeven te gaan, kon ik deze Blitzen lijn onmogelijk nog tot december in de kast laten liggen. De kleurrijke papiertjes, vintage embellishments, die gave lantaarn...ik ben echt helemaal weg van deze lijn!

My grandpa turns 71 tomorrow. But since Thursday is an ordinary school and work day for us, we went to visit him last weekend. I usually prefer creating bright, girly cards, but wanted to try creating a more masculine card this time around. Especially for my grandpa. This is what I came up with. What do you think: is it masculine enough?;)

Yay, I ordered a bunch of new Prima goodies and received them last week...just in time to be able to play along with Prima's product pick/colour palette. I don't think I work with these natural and brown tones that often, so this was a nice opportunity to think outside the box and use them for a change. Most of the papers are from the Romantique collection and as you can see, I totally fell in love with this brick stamp too. It's so versatile and you can even turn white cardstock into a beautiful sheet of patterned paper with it, I think. This layout showcases another photo that was taken during our trip to NYC.

Yay, ik heb een heleboel Prima goodies besteld en heb ze vorige week ontvangen...net op tijd om mee te kunnen doen aan het Prima product pick/kleurenpalet. Ik gebruik niet zo vaak naturelle en bruine tinten in mijn layouts, dus dit was dé gelegenheid om daar een keer verandering in te brengen. De meeste gebruikte vellen komen uit de Romantique lijn en zoals je misschien kunt zien, ben ik ook nogal verliefd op de baksteen stempel. Je kunt er heel veel kanten mee op en elk papiertje wordt bestempeld een klein feestje om naar te kijken:) De foto op deze layout is er weer één van onze trip naar de Big Apple.

Today I can show you a layout I made a few months ago and which went up on the Bo Bunny blog yesterday for a focus on stamping. I did a lot of heat embossing on this page and also incorporated much journaling for a change. I wanted to record a few of the highlights of my trip to New York and to journal about how much this trip has meant to me. Of course the papers and embellishments come from the awesome Liberty collection. I couldn't have wished for a more perfect collection for the photos of our trip!:)

Vandaag kan ik weer een layout laten zien die ik een paar maanden geleden heb gemaakt en die gisteren op het Bo Bunny blog is geplaatst voor een focus op stempelen. Ik heb veel gebruik gemaakt van embossen en ben ook nogal 'los gegaan' met de journaling op deze layout. Ik wilde een aantal highlights van onze reis naar New york vastleggen en besloot daarom om een keer iets meer op te schrijven dan maar een paar regeltjes tekst;) Het papier en de embellishments komen natuurlijk weer uit de gave Liberty lijn. Wat een mazzel heb ik dat deze lijn net uitkwam voordat we naar New York gingen: ik had me geen beter passende collectie kunnen wensen:)

Inbetween all the studying I'd like to show you another layout I made some time ago for Simpel Scrappen using the gorgeous Lost & Found 2 collection. The papers I used here are from the Blush series, which has some wonderful, feminine pink and black patterns. This is definitely one of my favourite releases from last CHA! You can find all materials I used (and links to the store so you could possibly order them yourself too;)) on the Simpel Scrappen blog.

Tussen het studeren door heb ik nog een layout te laten zien, die ik een tijdje geleden heb gemaakt voor Simpel Scrappen met de schitterende Lost & Found 2 lijn. Het papier dat ik op deze layout heb gebruikt komt uit de Blush serie, die voorzien is van de meest elegante roze en zwarte patroontjes. I also wanted to take a minute to say thank you to each of you for taking the time to leave me such sweet comments on my posts. Unique, Adorable, Charming

It's been a few days since my last blog post already. School is still taking up most of my time, but I made this weekend a scrappy weekend and scrapped the day away yesterday. Unfortunately I can't show you anything I made yet... But I do have this card to show you, which I made some time ago to play along with another fabulous card sketch challenge over at the MME blog. I totally fell in love with the Lost & Found 2 collection and ordered a whole lot of papers and embellishments that come with this collection. This is a card I made with the blue and lime papers from this line. It's made for a 'unique, adorable and charming' friend:)

Het is alweer een paar dagen geleden sinds mijn laatste berichtje. School legt nog steeds nogal veel beslag op mijn tijd, maar dit weekend heb ik benoemd tot mijn scrapweekend en ik heb gisteren de hele dag door gescrapt. Helaas kan ik nog geen resultaat laten zien, omdat de layouts allemaal voor My Creative Scrapbook zijn... Maar ik heb wel nog dit kaartje te laten zien, dat ik een tijdje geleden heb gemaakt om mee te doen aan de kaartenchallenge op het MME blog. Ik vind hun Lost and Found 2 lijn zo mooi en heb me nogal uitgeleefd bij het bestellen van al deze gave spullen... Deze kaart is gemaakt met de blauwe en limekleurige papiertjes uit deze lijn.

Lately I seem to love working with sketches a lot. Even if I'm without inspiration for a moment, sketches can inspire me to get started. One of the sketch challenges that I always love to participate in is the Prima BAP challenge. The September sketch is another great one and this is the layout I made with it. This layout features one of my best friends, Sandra (aka 'San'), who I have known for 12 years now. The papers I used are from the gorgeous Madeline collection. I've been hoarding these papers, but hadn't found the perfect opportunity and time to use them yet....until now! ;)

De laatste tijd vind ik het zo fijn om met sketches te werken. Zelfs als je even zonder inspiratie zit, kunnen sketches je weer aan het scrappen krijgen. Één van de sketche uitdagingen waar ik elke maand aan mee probeer te doen is de Prima BAP sketch. De sketch van deze maand was ook alweer zo'n leuke. Ik heb er deze layout mee gemaakt. Op de foto staat één van mijn beste vriendinnen, Sandra/ San, die ik al sinds groep drie ken. Het gebruikte papier komt uit de schitterende Madeline collectie. Ik had inmiddels al een aardig voorraadje van deze lijn aangelegd, maar had er nog niet de goede foto/gelegenheid voor gevonden...tot nu dus!;)

All Is Merry and Bright

I've been so busy with school this week...I was a bit overwhelmed by the huge workload I have to do each week, even in my first week. Besides that I'm still not completely used to the writing style of our books: the books are all in professional English and some sentences are completely made out of words I've never heard of;) I think it will just take some time for me to get fully used to the new school system and as soon as I feel more comfortable with this way of learning, it will probably take me a little less time to get all the work done too. At least I'm really enjoying my classes and subjects:) I hadn't had the time to scrap anything last week (all layouts I showed you were made quite some time ago), but I did manage to create this little Christmas card yesterday.

Ik ben deze week zo druk geweest met school... het is allemaal nog een kwestie van wennen aan de nieuwe situatie. Er komt zoveel zelfstudie bij kijken dat ik bijna elke dag van 's morgens tot 's avonds in de weer ben geweest met boeken lezen en samenvatten. De boeken zijn in het Engels en soms zijn zinnen voor mijn gevoel opgebouwd uit de meest onmogelijke woorden, die ik eerst allemaal in het woordenboek moet opzoeken voor ik er ook amar iets van snap, haha. Maar ja, waarschijnlijk duurt het even voordat ik er helemaal aan gewend ben en zal het lezen en leren later wel wat sneller gaan. Ik heb het wel heel erg naar mijn zin: ik vind mijn colleges en vakken tot nu toe erg leuk:) Ik ben afgelopen week helemaal niet aan scrappen toegekomen...tot gisteren, toen ik dit kerstkaartje heb gemaakt.

Home Is Wherever You Are

Last Tuesday we were focusing on the gorgeous trinkets and buttons that Bo Bunny offers over at the Bo Bunny blog. This is the layout I made for this post. The papers I used are from the Welcome Home collection and they are absolutely gorgeous! The patterns and muted tones are very vintagy, but they are mixed up with a few more bright colours for an even more pretty and colourful look.

Afgelopen dinsdag was de blogpost op het Bo Bunny blog een focus op hun mooie charms en knopen. Dit is de layout die ik voor de focus gemakt heb. Het papier dat ik gebruikt heb komt uit de Welcome Home collectie en het is zo mooi! De patroontjes en zachte kleurtjes zorgen voor een vintage touch, maar doordat de lijn ook een aantal groene en blauwe details heeft, wordt hij ook weer heel kleurrijk en vrolijk.

My Creative Scrapbook Guest Designer Call

My Creative Scrapbook is happy to announce: a new guest designer call!

The call is open from Sept. 17, 2011 through Oct.28, 2011. We will announce the new Guest Design Team on our blog and in our forum on Nov 5, 2011.

We are looking to fill spots for Guest Design Team positions but hint, hint, we have chosen our permanent DT members from our past Guest DT members.

Within these positions we are looking for skills in creating layouts, mini albums, cards, altered items and sketches.

We want you…”if”…you are a creative, energetic, and ambitious and want to have fun creating with us.

Our Expectations of Guest Designers:
- Open communication skill.
- Consistent style and range and ability to design and showcase our kit supplies.
- Teamwork, cooperation and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to create layouts, cards and altered projects on a more experienced skill level.
- Ability to teach techniques with written instructions and/or step by step photos or video.
- Photography skills to produce clear and accurate photos of your projects.

Guest Design Team Requirements:
- Active participation in our forum including the message board and galleries. (This is a must for all.)
- 3 Layouts and 1 card/altered item per kit per month.
- Step by step picture or video tutorial to share with our members in our forum on a rotating basis using a kit.

More with the My Creative Scrapbook Main Kit

Today I'll share the last part of my work with the My Creative Scrapbook kits for this month with you: one layout and two cards, which were created with the fabulous main kit. I had so much fun playing with these bright and happy papers and coordinating embellishments.

Vandaag zal ik het laatste deel van mijn werk met de My Creative Scrapbook kits voor deze maand laten zien: één layout en twee kaarten die zijn gemaakt met de prachtige main kit. Dit was zulk leuk papier om mee te werken!

On this page I layered a lot of the wonderful stickers that were part of the kit.

Op deze layout heb ik gebruik gemaakt van veel van de prachtige stickers uit de kit.

These two cards were made with some of the papers that I had left over. I also squeezed in part of the packaging of the pink Prima flowers. Even the packagings that Prima offers are fabulous:)

Deze twee kaarten heb ik gemaakt met een aantal restjes van de kit. Op de bovenste kaart heb ik ook gebruik gemaakt van de verpakking van de roze Prima bloemen. Zelfs de verpakkingen van Prima zijn mooi;)

I combined the patterned papers with white cardstock on both cards. For a colourful touch I sprayed some pink glimmer mist on the cardstock and layered the bright papers on top of it.

Ik heb op beide kaarten tussen de laagjes dessinpapier door ook een stukje witte cardstock verwerkt. Het cardstock is met roze glimmer mist bewerkt voor een beetje meer kleur.

My Creative Scrapbook Main Kit Bright & Fun

Not only the LE kit is stunning this month, but so is the Main Kit that My Creative Scrapbook offers this month. The Victoria Garden papers by Echo Park in this kit are so fun and bright. As soon as I opened my box, they brought a huge smile to my face:) Today I'll show you two of the layouts that I made with this fabulous kit.

Niet alleen de LE kit van My Creative Scrapbook is superleuk, maar ook de main kit was in ieder geval in mijn geval weer goed voor uren scrapplezier. De Victoria Garden lijn van Echo Park in deze kit is zo heerlijk vrolijk en kleurrijk. Bij het openen van mijn kit, verscheen er meteen een lach op mijn gezicht:) Vandaag zal ik twee van de layouts laten zien die ik met deze gave kit heb gemaakt.

This kit matched my photos from the Keukenhof (a famous Dutch flower park) so perfectly. I did lots of fussy cutting on this page and also used a few of the wonderful, colourful flowers to make a cute cluster with.

Ik vond deze kit zo goed samengaan met mijn foto's van de Keukenhof. Op deze layout heb ik veel knipwerk verwerkt en heb ik ook een aantal van de Prima bloemen gebruikt om een clustertje mee te samen te stellen.

I love it to just put layer upon layer on my pages and this layout was no exception;) Again I fussy cut some of the pretty flower patterns.

Ik vind het zo leuk om gewoon laagje voor laagje te werken en dan gewoon te kijken hoe het resultaat eruit komt te zien. Zo ook op deze layout;) Ook heb ik weer een aantal van die leuke bloemetjes op het Echo Park papier uitgeknipt.

I tied the sheer ribbon twice to turn it into a pink flower and clustered it together with a large white flower and a few pretty roses.

Ik heb het organza lint twee ker gestrikt zodat het een roze bloem werd en heb deze samen met een grote witte bloem en een paar roosjes een clustertje laten vormen.

My Creative Scrapbook LE Kit 2

Yesterday I showed you part 1 of my work with the stunning MCS LE kit and today I'll show you part 2 of my creations with this kit. This kit was just packed with the most amazing stuff and even after I created 4 layouts and 1 card with it, I had quite some bits and pieces left.

Gisteren heb ik al deel 1 van mijn werk met de gave MCS LE kit laten zien en vandaag is het tijd voor het tweede deel van mijn creaties met deze mooie kit. Er zaten zoveel gave spullen in deze kit, dat ik er zelfs na het maken van 4 layouts en 1 kaart nog aardig wat van over hield.

I did lots of layering and distressing on this page. Gotta love my distress tool a lot! For a few shimmery and colourful touches I sprayed on my page with green and red glimmer mist.

Op deze layout heb ik weer veel met laagjes gewerkt en ook ben ik heerlijk in de weer geweest met mijn distress tool. Voor een paar glimmende en kleurrijke details heb ik rode en groene glimmer mist gebruikt.

This layout is based on the gorgeous Prima canvas sheet, which was included in the kit too. I've been drooling on this sheet for a while before I finally dared to use it;) I sprayed on it with a few colours of glimmer mist on the sheet and matted it on a sheet of patterned paper for some extra depth.

Deze layout is gemaakt op een prachtige Prima canvas sheet, die ook in de kit zat. Het duurde even voor ik het vel durfde te gebruiken, want hij is zo mooi. Ik heb het canvas met verschillende flesjes glimmer mist van een beetje kleur voorzien en heb het canvas gemat op dessinpapier voor wat extra diepte.

The bird and crown in the upper left corner are Heidi Swapp mistable die-cuts and they are so much fun to work with! I sprayed a few drops of glimmer mist on a sheet of paper and then gently pushed my die-cut into the glimmer mist to give it some extra colour.

De vogel en kroon in de rechterbovenhoek zijn Heidi Swapp mistable die-cuts en ze zijn zo leuk om mee te werken! Ik heb op een wit vel een paar druppels glimmer mist gespoten en de kroon daar vervolgens voorzichtig doorheen gewreven om hem van een beetje kleur te voorzien.

I also made a card with some of the bits and pieces that I had left over from this kit.

My Creative Scrapbook September Kits Have Been Released!

This month we have another wonderful reveal over at My Creative Scrapbook and I'm dieing to show you my work with them. I had the pleasure to work with two gorgeous kits (the Main and the LE kit) this month and I really enjoyed playing with them. Today I'll share half of my work with the LE kit with you. This kit contains the gorgeous dreamy and vintage Devotion papers by Creative Imaginations, as well as a Prima canvas sheet, Teresa Collins papers and tons of embellishments and flowers. This kit is good for hours of scrappy fun!

Het is weer tijd om de prachtige My Creative Scrapbook te onthullen..yay! Ik mocht dit keer met twee schitterend mooie kits (de main en de LE kit) aan de slag. Vandaag zal ik de helft van mijn werk met de LE kit laten zien. Deze kit bevat de prachtige vintage Devotion papierlijn van Creative Imaginations, en tevens een Prima canvas sheet, Teresa Collins papier en een heleboel embellishments en bloemen. Uren scrapplezier gegarandeerd:)

On this layout I used two large fussy cut elements, that were cut from the Teresa Collins Notations papers. I thought they added the perfect bit of contrast to my page. This kit contained so many flowers...I had a lot of fun clustering them together and arranging them in the desired way on this page!

Op deze layout heb ik twee grote uitgeknipte vormen van het Teresa Collins papier verwerkt. Het Creative Imaginations papier is van zichzelf best dromerig en shabby chic, dus ik vond dat deze zwart witte vormen wel een mooi contrast vormden. De kit bevat ook superveel bloemen...op deze layout heb ik ze samengeclusterd en heen en weer geschoven totdat ik helemaal tevreden was.

On this layout I used a circle in my design for a change;) I printed this photo of Jolanda and Joyce twice and matted the first photo on the second one for a creative look. I simply cut one of the photos in two pieces and shove those halves behind the other photo.

Op deze layout heb ik voor de verandering eens een cirkel verwerkt. Ik heb deze foto van Jolanda en Joyce dubbel uitgeprint en heb ze als het ware op elkaar gemat door de tweede foto in twee delen te knippen en achter de eerste te schuiven.

To make the fussy cut flowers stand out a bit more I covered them with a layer of red stickles.

Om de uitgeknipte bloemen op deze layout beter naar voren te laten komen, heb ik ze voorzien van een laagje rode stickles.

Inbetween all the fun planning for our book, I got some scrapping done too. Once again I absolutely loved the OUAS that Nadia made. The extra assignment for this challenge is a fun one too: you have to journal about a year that has been very important to you. I think 2011 has been the most important year in my life so far. This year is feeling like a process of changing in so many ways. But not only did I go through a lot of changes this year: 2011 was also the year of a few exciting things, such as my trip to New York. On this layout I journaled about the 4 highlights of this year so far: my graduation from high school, my 18th birthday (Yay, I'm finally an adult;)), my trip to the USA and the start of my life as a University student. On this layout I used the gorgeous and fresh Miss Nelly papers by Kaisercraft. The colours are divine and the flower patterns are perfect for some pretty fussy cutting.

Tussen al het plannen en regelen van dingen voor ons boek door, ben ik ook nog aan scrappen toe gekomen. De sketch voor OUAS die Nadia heeft gemaakt was weer zo mooi. Ook de extra opdracht vond ik erg leuk: je moest iets schrijven over een jaar dat heel belangrijk voor je is geweest. Ik denk dat 2011 tot nu toe het meest belangrijke jaar voor mij is geweest. Dit jaar zat vol met veranderingen en leuke dingen, zoals mijn trip naar New York en de diploma-uitreiking. Voor deze layout heb ik de prachtige en felgekleurde Miss nelly lijn van Kaisercraft gebruikt. De kleurtjes zijn zo mooi en de bloemenpatroontjes zijn perfect voor wat mooi knipwerk!

Bo Bunny Christmas Cards & Big News!

The past few days lots of exciting things have happened. Yesterday was my first day at school as a 'communication and information sciences' student. I had such a great feeling from the moment I walked into my lecture room. The faculty that my study is part of is very small and I just love that. It makes the distance between teachers and students so much smaller. During my one week as a psychology student I had almost 400 fellow students and it felt like I was a number instead of a person. My new faculty has 150 students if it isn't less than that and it felt like it was a very warm and cosy society. I also got a few introductions for my new study and I was informed about the 2nd major that I'll have to choose. I still haven't made a decision about that, but I'm thinking of choosing English. A few years ago I was really bad at English and I think the digital world behind scrapbooking made me more interested in this language. So I started to enlarge my English vocabulary and wrote more and more in English to improve my writing skills. From that moment I started loving English. I'm just not quite sure whether I'll be good enough in English to major in it in University:( Anyway, it was a wonderful day and it felt like I have made the right change at the right moment:)

Now on to the scrapping part of this post... I still have 2 Bo Bunny cards to show you, which were posted in my spotlight post on the Bo Bunny blog too. These two cards feature the new Christmas collections, which are absolutely gorgeous!

De laatste paar dagen zijn er zoveel leuke dingen gaande. Ten eerste heb ik gisteren mijn eerste dag als CIW (dat staat voor communicatie- en informatiewetenschappen, maar dat woord kan ik bijna niet uit mijn mond krijgen zonder tussendoor naar adem te hoeven happen, haha) -student. Meteen toen ik de collegezaal binnenstapte voelde het heel goed. Sowieso is deze faculteit vrij klein en daardoor is de afstand tussen professoren en studenten ook minder groot. Tijdens mijn één week durende psychologie carrière (LOL) moest ik de collegezaal delen met bijna 400 mede-studenten en stond er voor mijn gevoel nog net geen nummer op mijn voorhoofd geschreven. Maar deze faculteit heeft 150 studenten (als het er al niet minder zijn) en het voelde heel gezellig. Ik heb een aantal introducties gehad en heb ook informatie gekregen over mijn tweede major, die ik nog steeds moet kiezen. Ik denk er sterk aan om voor Engels te gaan, maar ben erg bang dat het niveau Engels op de universiteit voor mij iets te hoog zal liggen. Een paar jaar geleden was ik best slecht in Engels, maar sinds ik de hele digitale wereld achter het scrappen heb ontdekt, ben ik me ook meer in Engels gaan interesseren. Ik heb geprobeerd mijn woordenschat te vergroten en steeds meer in het Engels te gaan schrijven, ook op mijn blog. Sindsdien vind ik alles wat met Engels te maken heeft heel interessant en leuk, dus die interesse is er wel, maar of ik ook genoeg capaciteiten heb...dat weet ik niet. In ieder geval voelde de keuze voor mijn 1e major supergoed en ik denk dat ik de goede studieverandering heb gemaakt op precies het goede moment;)

Nu over naar het scrapgedeelte van deze blogpost...ik heb nog twee kaarten te laten zien uit mijn Bo Bunny spotlight post van vorige week. Deze twee kaarten zijn gemaakt met de nieuwe kerstcollecties, die zoals altijd weer geweldig mooi zijn!

Father Christmas is a very nostalgic collection with some wonderful, traditional Christmas colours in it. I also love the dimensional stickers that come with this collection - they are really pretty!

Father Christmas is een heel nostalgische lijn en de kleurtjes in deze collectie zijn heel mooi en traditioneel. Ik vind de 3D stickers bij deze lijn ook zo geweldig en heb daar dan ook dankbaar gebruik van gemaakt op deze kaart.

For this card I used the fabulous and colourful Blitzen collection. The images on the papers and stickers that this collection offers are superb! I had so much fun playing with it, so you can expect many more Blitzen cards to come;)

Op deze kaart heb ik de mooie en kleurrijke Blitzen lijn gebruikt. De afbeeldingen op het papier en de stickers zijn superleuk! Jullie zullen dus vast nog wel meer kaartjes met deze lijnen voorbij zien komen;)

And I have some more exciting stuff to announce! Today I met up with Hilde for the very first time (she was super sweet BTW and so is her adorable son) and we have something very cool coming up. We're planning to make a big book with scrapbook ideas for other Dutch scrap-addicts. We still have to organize a lot of things, but this it is so wonderful to make this journey together and if it will all work out the way we have in our minds, then it will be all worth it:) We also started a blog, but unfortunately everything is in Dutch... En ik heb nog meer superleuk nieuws om te vertellen. Vandaag heb ik Hilde voor het eerst ontmoet (ze is superlief trouwens, net als haar schattige zoontje!) en we zijn van alles en nog wat aan het regelen en bedenken voor een heel gaaf project. We hebben namelijk het plan om samen een dik boek met scrapinspiratie, sketches, tutorials en nog veel meer te maken voor én door Nederlandse scrapverslaafden. We moeten nog steeds veel dingen regelen en uitzoeken, maar het idee is er en we hebben er superveel zin in om dit avontuur aan te gaan.
We zijn ook een blog begonnen, dat nu nog 'Ons boek' heet, omdat we nog druk aan het brainstormen zijn over de naam;) Op dit blog kun je de ontwikkelingen op het gebied van het boek op de voet volgen en zul je binnenkort ook calls en meer informatie kunnen verwachten. We zouden het super vinden als je een bezoekje brengt en misschien volger wordt of een berichtje achterlaat!

Let's Celebrate

First of all I wanted to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for all your sweet comments on my last post. I can't put into words how much it means to me. Tomorrow is the big day: the start of my new adventure at University and I'm ready for it:) Today I made this card with the very fun and festive Let's Celebrate papers from Webster's Pages for the August challenge...to celebrate how happy and relieved I am after I made this decision:)

Ten eerste wil ik iedereen vanuit de bodem van mijn hart SUPER bedanken voor alle lieve reacties die jullie hebben achtergelaten bij mijn laatste berichtje. Het betekent heel erg veel voor me! Hard Decisions

Usually I prefer sharing my scrapwork here and maybe just a little bit about me....but this time around I felt like sharing something more personal on my blog. Just because it sometimes helps to write things down onto paper (or on your keyboard). As I mentioned here earlier I find it pretty hard to take decisions, especially the kind of decisions that you have to take all by yourself and that could change your life. Sometimes I wish there'd would be a book that tells me what to do in all kinds of situations, because that would mean I would never be able to take decisions (ie not take any wrong decision). But while I'm growing into an adult, I have to realize I'm responsible for my own choices now and I can't have people telling me what I have to do all the time. OK, this might sound a bit cryptic so far, so I'll try to tell you what I'm aiming at;)

Some time ago I worked on a temporary assignment at the redaction of a Dutch magazine and that experience made me realize my heart belongs to journalism and writing. Even while I was at primary school I always told people I wanted to become a reporter as a grown-up. But when we started orientating on University studies two years ago, I had no idea at all anymore what I'd like to major in. Journalism isn't a University study in Holland and the University alternatives for journalism sounded pretty cryptic to me (research about conversations and that kinda stuff). So I was pretty sure I would have to search for a completely different study. In the end I read something about psychology. As I'm often interested in what people think and - even more important - why they think that way, I thought psychology would be a nice subject to major in too. I attended three psychology classes last year to find out if I'd like it. The first class I attended was totally not what I thought I expected, but the second class I went to was very interesting and fun. That was what made me take the decision to go studying psychology. I told myself to not rethink my decision anymore and to not have any doubts about it either. So I didn't think about it anymore, had a wonderful vacation and looked forward to starting my life as a psychology student...

But for some reason even my first day of the orientation week felt kind of awkward. I can't really explain why, but there was a little voice in my head that said 'this isn't what you really want'. I told to some of my fellow students, to a few friends and to my parents about my doubts regarding psychology. But they all told me everything would be OK and that I should just try it. If I really wouldn't like it, I could still decide to stop studying psychology after this year...

Yesterday my day started with a general ICT-course. Nothing special, so I have no idea at all why it was during that certain lesson that my feelings of doubt came back...not just a bit, but very heavily! At that moment I started thinking again of all the people who warned me for the fact that psychology is a very heavy study (especially when you have some personal issues too, because you'll get to know more about them during your study and that could be pretty confrontating at times) and of the people who told me that I really had to do something with my love for writing. I had just attended my first two psychology classes, but didn't find them very interesting. I haven't had biology classes the past few years and these colleges were all about biology. The problem is that I'm not only pretty bad at biology, but that I also am not very interested in biology. This combination wouldn't make it very easy for me to major in a study that has a lot of biology in it. I had expected psychology would be more philosophy instead of biology and in combination with me longing for journalism and writing I was quite sure I took the wrong decision by choosing for psychology.

I realized that if I'd like to 'switch' studies, I had to do it right now. Otherwise my registration for psychology would have become official and there wouldn't have been the possibility to turn things back anymore. Besides that it would have meant that we should have to pay the lecture fees twice (because I was in time now the University was still able to 'send' the fees we paid to another faculty).

I informed my parents about it, talked to them about my decision to not study psychology and fortunately they agreed with it. I can imagine me getting an immediate heartattack if my daughter had told me she decided to switch studies only days before the school year started, so I'm really happy they immediately supported me in my decision;) Then I was pretty sure I wanted to study communication sciences instead of psychology now, but while browsing through the alphabetical list of studies that my University offers,I found a study that seemed to be even more right up in my alley: communication- and information-sciences. This study is very new and unique. It namely offers students the possibility to major in two subjects: communication/Dutch language/advertisement and a modern foreign language, such as English. It has everything in it that I was looking for: advertisement, psychology, writing, languages... My heart made a little jump, my headache was gone and it just felt good. I'm usually not a very impulsive person when it comes to these big decisions, but this time I am...just because it feels good. Very good:)

I'm so happy I took this decision just in time - literally. My first lesson will take place on Thursday and I actually look forward to it a lot. The first thing my dad said was that he thought this study suits me so much better than psychology and I think I have to agree with that;) Everything is ready now for me to start this adventure. I'm ready for it and it feels so good:) I wish I would have taken this decision a bit earlier though, cause that would have probably meant a lot less doubts, worries and stress, but one can better take a decision late than never, right? LOL!

Normaalgesproken laat ik hier vooral scrapwerk zien en deel ik alleen zo af en toe wat persoonlijke 'nieuwtjes', maar dit keer wil ik heel graag iets persoonlijks opschrijven. Gewoon. Omdat het soms helpt om dingen van me af te schrijven:)

Zoals ik al eerder vertelde (en scrapte) is het nemen van beslissing - vooral als het grote beslissingen zijn die je helemaal zelf moet nemen en je leven totaal kunnen veranderen - niet bepaald mijn hobby te noemen. Soms zou ik vurig wensen dat er een boek zou bestaan met een to-do-list voor iedere situatie, zodat je nooit zelf een beslissing hoeft te nemen (en dus ook niet de verkeerde beslissing kunt nemen). Maar nu ik ouder word en langzaamaan volwassen word, moet ik me realiseren dat ik nu verantwoordelijk ben voor mijn eigen keuzes en dat er niet altijd meer mensen om me heen zijn die me kunnen vertellen wat ik moet doen. Oké, dat klinkt misschien allemaal een beetje cryptisch, maar ik zal proberen uit te leggen waar ik met dit stukje op doel;)

Een tijdje geleden heb ik stage gelopen op de redactie van een tijdschrift (de Vrouw) en die ervaring maakte het voor mij weer duidelijk dat mijn hart bij de journalistiek en het schrijven ligt. Ik weet nog goed dat elke keer dat ik zelfs op de basisschool al aan iedereen die het maar wilde weten vertelde dat ik 'als ik groot was' journaliste zou worden. Maar toen we twee jaar geleden begonnen met loopbaanoriëntatie op school had ik geen idee meer welke studie ik zou willen volgen. Journalistiek is geen universiteitstudie in Nederland en aangezien ik de gevonden universitaire alternatieven voor die studie nogal vaag vond klinken, was ik er zeker van dat ik op zoek moest gaan naar iets totaal anders. Na verloop van tijd las ik toevallig ergens iets over psychologie.

Omdat ik naar mijn idee wel geïnteresseerd was in wat mensen denken en vooral waarom ze dat denken, sprak het idee om psychologie te gaan studeren me meteen aan. Ik heb drie meelopdagen gedaan van psychologie om erachter te komen of ik ook deze studie in de praktijk ook wel zo leuk vond. Het eerste college was totaal niet wat ik er van verwachtte, maar het tweede college vond ik dan weer erg interessant en leuk. Dat gaf voor mij uiteindelijk de doorslag om te besluiten aan een opleiding psychologie te gaan beginnen. Ik sprak met mezelf af te stoppen met twijfelen over mijn keuze voor psychologie. Dus heb ik er inderdaad de hele zomervakantie niet meer aan gedacht, heb ik een heerlijk zorgeloze vakantie gehad en zag ik uit naar mijn leven als psychologie student...

Maar om één of andere reden voelde mijn eerste introductiedag al een beetje vreemd. Ik kan niet zo goed uitleggen waarom, maar het leek wel of er toen al een stemmetje in mijn hoofd zat dat zei 'dit is niet wat je écht wilt'. Ik heb mijn twijfels een paar keer geuit aan andere studenten, aan vrienden en aan mijn ouders. Maar allemaal probeerden ze me gerust te stellen door te zeggen dat het niet uitmaakte als ik de verkeerde studie zou hebben gekozen en dat ik altijd nog volgend jaar zou kunnen switchen...

Gisteren begon mijn dag met een algemene ICT-les. Niets bijzonders, dus ik was nogal verbaasd dat juist tijdens die les mijn twijfels opeens zo heftig terugkwamen. Op dat moment ging ik terugdenken aan de vele mensen die me hadden gewaarschuwd voor psychologie. Het is een vrije zware opleiding en als je zelf ook niet altijd even goed in je vel zit, kan het bovendien heel confronterend zijn om door die studie meer over jezelf te weten te komen. Ook waren er de decanen die mij hadden verteld dat ik pas echt begon te stralen als ik over schrijven praatte, of docenten die vonden dat ik echt iets met schrijven moest gaan doen. Bovendien vond ik de twee eerste psychologie colleges, die ik inmiddels had gevolgd, niet erg interessant. Ik heb in de bovenbouw geen biologie gehad en deze beide colleges gingen vooral over biologische achtergronden en de hersenen. Natuurlijk zou ik daar later aan kunnen wennen en kun je bijles krijgen in biologie, maar bij mij ontbreekt niet alleen het inzicht in dit vak, maar ook een beetje de interesse (en met de combinatie van die twee wordt het wel wat lastig, hihi). Dit samen met het feit dat ik heel graag met schrijven aan de slag zou willen gaan tijdens mijn opleiding, maakten me er zeker van dat ik de verkeerde keuze had gemaakt door voor psychologie te kiezen.

Maar ja, als ik nog zou willen wisselen van studie, zou ik dat echt nú moeten doen. Anders moet je namelijk óf alsnog een heel jaar een studie volgen waarvan je zeker weet dat je er na een jaar mee stopt óf dubbel collegegeld betalen...

Ik heb natuurlijk meteen mijn ouders verteld over mijn beslissing en gelukkig vonden ze het goed. Ik kan me voorstellen dat als mijn dochter me een paar dagen voor het begin van het schooljaar zou vertellen dat ze 'even' besloten heeft voor een andere opleiding te kiezen, ik zowat een hartaanval zou krijgen...dus ik ben blij dat mijn ouders er positief op gereageerd hebben;) Ik wist ook welke studie ik nu zou willen volgen in plaats van psychologie: communicatiewetenschappen. Maar toen ik deze studie opzocht in de alfabetische lijst met studies, zag ik onder communicatiewetenschappen iets anders staan: communicatie- en informatiewetenschappen. Dit is een kleine en heel nieuwe en unieke studie. Deze studie biedt studenten de mogelijkheid om twee majors te volgen: taal en communicatie (hier zit ook bijvoorbeeld reclame en journalistiek in) en een moderne vreemde taal, zoals Engels. Deze studie heeft eigenlijk alles in zich wat ik interessant vind: reclame, psychologie, schrijven, talen... Mijn hart maakte een klein sprongetje toen ik de studie vond en mijn hoofdpijn vanwege alle stress werd meteen een stuk minder. Normaalgesproken ben ik niet bepaald impulsief te noemen wat dit soort grote keuzes betreft, maar nu wel...gewoon omdat het zó goed voelt nu:)

Ik ben zo blij dat ik deze switch net op het nippertje heb gemaakt - letterlijk. Mijn eerste les zal aanstaande donderdag zijn en ik zie er heel erg naar uit. Het eerste dat mijn vader zei was dat hij deze studie supergoed bij me vond passen (veel beter dan psychologie) en ik denk dat hij daar wel gelijk in heeft;) Alles is nu geregeld en aanstaande donderdag kan ik beginnen. Ik ben er klaar voor en voel me er supergoed bij:) Ik zou willen dat ik deze beslissing eerder had genomen, want dat had me waarschijnlijk veel twijfels, zorgen en stress bespaard.. Maar ja, beter laat dan nooit zeggen ze toch? LOL!

Welcome Home is een perfecte lijn voor verhuisd-kaarten of layouts over verbouwingen, maar kan ook voor veel andere gelegenheden gebruikt worden. Ik heb deze lijn gebruikt voor een 'Miss you' kaart.

Sweet Tooth is the perfect name for this collection...cause it's just so super sweet and pretty. To me these papers screamed to be used for a birthday card;)

Sweet Tooth is de perfecte naam voor deze collectie...omdat het zo'n heerlijk zoete en leuke lijn is. Ze vragen er gewoon om gebruikt te worden voor een verjaardagskaart;)

You Are My Favourite Mommy

Oh, how do I love the new My Mind's Eye Lost & Found collections...they are as gorgeous as the first lines were and I'm so in love with each one of these glittery papers, embellishments and stamps. Simpel Scrappen has recently added all series of Lost & Found papers and embellishments to their store and I was fortunate enough to get to play with the Blush series. I used these papers for a girly layout with a photo of my mom and I on it:)

Oh, ik vind de nieuwe My Mind's Eye Lost & Found lijnen toch zo leuk...ze zijn minstens zo mooi als hun voorgangers, waar ik ook al helemaal weg van was. Wederom bestaan de lijnen uit prachtige vellen papier voorzien van glitter details, mooie embellishments en de meeste gave stempelsets. Simpel Scrappen heeft alle Lost & Found lijnen laatst binnengekregen en ik was superblij met de Blush serie aan de slag te mogen gaan. Ik heb deze papiertjes gebruikt om een echte meidenlayout mee te maken over mij en mijn moeder:)

This week I've had the introduction week of my University. I've been dreading this week for so long. I just felt like I wasn't ready for this big change in my life yet. But I'm glad I did attend this week, cause I've learnt so much more about the University system, my studies and about our capital city (I live about 30 minutes away from Amsterdam, but this week I've seen parts of this city that I had never been to before...pretty funny when you realize I visit Amsterdam on a regular base!). I also got to meet a few of the psychology and pedagogics students with whom I'll attend the classes the next couple of years. We went to Artis, Amsterdam's famous zoo, on Thursday, where I saw this über cute baby lion. Oh, how do I wish I could have taken this cutie pie home;) If only lions wouldn't grow that big.... LOL!

Deze week heb ik introductieweek gehad op de VU. Ik heb zo lang tegen deze week opgezien. Waar anderen heel erg veel zin hebben in het studentenleven en meer vrijheid, voelde ik me er echt niet klaar voor. Maar achteraf ben ik heel blij dat ik toch naar de introductieweek ben geweest. Ik ben nu zoveel wijzer over hoe het zit met het systeem op de universiteit, over hoe mijn studie eruit zal zien en ik heb ook nog eens zoveel meer van Amsterdam gezien (aangezien we heel dichtbij Amsterdam wonen kom ik daar best vaak, maar toch ben ik weer op plaatsen in de stad geweest, die ik nog nooit eerder had gezien;)). Door deze week heb ik ook een paar van mijn bijna 400 medestudenten leren kennen, met wie ik de komende jaren in de collegezaal zal zitten. Het is mooi om te zien hoe snel er dan vriendschappen worden opgebouwd. Zelf noem ik niet na een paar dagen iemand al een vriend(in), maar ik heb wel een aantal aardige meiden ontmoet gelukkig;). Donderdag zijn we naar Artis geweest, waar we onder andere dit lieve welpje hebben bewonderd. Oh, wat zou ik hem graag in mijn tas mee naar huis hebben genomen. Wat is het toch eigenlijk jammer dat leeuwen zo snel groot worden, haha.

Some time ago Gerry organized a scrapbook meeting at her home with a few other very sweet girls and we had so much fun scrapping and chattering together. Needless to say it didn't take that long until we dug out our cameras and started taking photos;) This is a photo I took of Gerry and I really love how it turned out. A few days ago I managed to scrap it with some help from the Prima BAP-sketch. I really loved the circles in this month's sketch. I usually don't use circles in my designs that often, so this sketch was a perfect opportunity to scrap outside my comfort zone. I used papers from the Reflections and Botanical collections by Prima and of course I also used some of the embellishments which Prima is famous for...their gorgeous flowers!

Een tijdje geleden had Gerry een hele leuke scrapdag bij haar thuis georganiseerd voor mij en een aantal hele lieve andere scrappende meiden. Het was supergezellig! Natuurlijk duurde het niet lang voordat we onze camera's tevoorschijn haalden;) Dit is een foto die ik van Gerry heb gemaakt en ik vind hem zelf wel erg leuk geworden. Een aantal dagen geleden heb ik hem gescrapt met behulp van de Prima BAP-sketch. Ik vond de cirkels in deze sketch erg leuk. Normaal gebruik ik niet zo vaak cirkels op mijn pagina's, dus dit was een goede reden om eens uit mijn comfort zone te komen. Ik heb papier gebruikt uit Prima's Reflections en Botanical collecties en natuurlijk ook een aantal van de embellishments waar Prima om bekend staat...hun prachtige bloemen!
