Going masculine with 'Life by the sea'

My previous blogpost on the Maja Design blog was titled ‘Pretty in pink’. Well, I think that will be enough evidence that I tend to do more girly than masculine lay-outs.  For today’s post I decided to change that. With Maja Design’s ‘Life by the sea’ collection it was love at first sight for me. The papers from this collection have stars, ginghams, text or stripes printed on them and the colours are just perfect for a masculine creation. I have made this lay-out with these beautiful papers.

Met Maja Designs 'Life by the sea' collectie maakte ik deze lay-out.

The photo that I used on this lay-out is one of my father and my little brother. We were in a chair-lift, returning from a trip to the biggest mountain in Budapest. I tried to take some photos of the two of them and actually loved how this one turned out. I loved how peaceful and serene it looks.
Once again I added as many layers as I could to my lay-out. To create the gingham layer I cut out a gingham pattern from the ‘Sailing’ sheet. I adhered it to my lay-out with foamtape and added the other layers of paper on top of it.

On this lay-out I also used some of the gorgeous Dusty Attic products, that I got to work with as a guest designer. The 'stars' and the lion in the corner are from Dusty Attic. All chippies were covered with white embossing powder and were then heat embossed.

Supplies:
Maja Design: patterned papers (Life by the sea: Nautic, the West Coast, Regatta, Sailing, Sailing-bs, Morning Sing-bs)
Dusty Attic: chipboard stars and lion
Prima Marketing: flowers, resin seagull
Tim Holtz: distress ink
American Crafts: embossing powder, embossing ink

  11. Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and tested to
see if it can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation.
My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this
is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!

  15. Beautiful! What really grabbed my attention was how you cut the plaid photo mat paper. I never thought about cutting it like you, but that's what I'll do next time!
